Mo Lewis to Jets Fans - Blame Bledsoe

Looking forward to this as much as my next midnight leg cramp

Oh god, not this again...

"[Bledsoe] just signed a $100 million deal to be what type of quarterback? A passing quarterback, correct?" Lewis says. "Had he not got outside the pocket and ran with the ball, would we be talking about this? Who caused the event? The person who was with the ball.

Former Patriots assistant coach Pepper Johnson says he was "mad at Drew" because he warned him "not to go one-on-one with this dude." Johnson and Mo Lewis were teammates on the Jets, and Johnson describes him as "a Scud missile."

"I painted the scenario for him to run out of bounds," Johnson says.

Mo Lewis is not incorrect about this. Bledsoe had no business being that upright, not putting his shoulder down, all while running that slowly with a linebacker bearing down on him.

Maybe Mo should blame Jets fans for being ridiculous? Drew was trying to make a play. No matter how stupid you want to call the play, he was just playing football, too.

This has got to be the weirdest explanation I've ever heard.

He's saying that he objectively did his job and Drew Bledsoe put himself in harms way to make a play that led to the result. He's not wrong. It's stupid for Jets fans to get mad at him for making a hard hit to QB running o the outside that resulted in him being knocked out for part of the season.

If that exact same play happened with Tom Brady at any point between 2003-2019 Jets fans would have called that person a hero.

Agreed- but he doesn't seem to understand that Mo Lewis is still well-liked among Patriots fans for his role as well!

It's almost like he thinks Patriots fans are mad at him or that it was a dirty play.

I mean, he almost killed Bledsoe in the end - but that's just football. I never looked at it as anything other than a clean play.

I looked it like he was sick of the Jets fans complaining to him for starting it.

Obviously I'm a huge Bledsoe guy... read the ID But nah, I'm not mad at him. That was a legit hard hit. Perfectly clean. Literally a hit that could have happened hundreds, thousands of times and never done a thing. Everything had to go PERFECTLY WRONG to almost kill Drew. The right amount of force, the right angle...change just ONE variable in that collision and MAYBE he gets knocked out of the game.
