Patriots Player Departure OFFICIAL 2025 Patriots roster cutdown day discussion / tracker

Why do folks keep criticizing us having 8 WRs when there is no chance of us that number in a week?
2 QBs and 8 wrs means a weird division in training. We rarely play with a set of 4, so are we having 3 units there? Plus we are taking reps from young guys

Not to mention Bourne and even Baker really feel superfluos, if we are discussing names.

Dugger’s only value not being on the team is his cap hit savings
He’s a good back end player otherwise
I think he will see the field sparingly but will be used in certain coverages that allow him to play aggressively and instinctively. Maybe 20% of snaps.

Cut Bradburry, Pick Up Lumpkin, Wilson to Guard, Brown center and hopefully Lumpkin replaces or becomes full back and cut Westover.
Seriously in what world are you cutting another interior linemen?!

We have one player on our whole team who has started a game at guard Onwenwu. Our other starting guard is actually a rookie center Wilson. We have exactly one back up guard and he's a failed tackle in his second season Wallace. Our starting center Bradbury can't pass block and he's over the hill. Our back up center Brown can't run block and he was a waiver claim during last year's mess.

We had the 32nd rank OL last year and your solution is to subtract more and pick up a midget....err little person?

He is a little person who’s shown an ability to block very big persons though.

Vested vets (4+ years of experience) are not subject to waivers until after the trade deadline. Technically, vets are released from their contract (thus immediately being a free agent) while younger player’s contracts are put on the waiver wire. A team claims the contract really.
So, if a team claims a vested veteran, does that mean it is liable for everything left on the contract except the signing bonus?

And much better than Bradburry. I'm 5'6", 140 and could give him a run in pass blocking.

Yes, I'm exaggerating.

The only thing i will note about this whole process is cutting Swinson is interesting... but i'm not sure how worried we should be. They can sign him back on the 53 very likely as long as they make a move in the next 24 hours. If they don't sign him on during the WW period though, he might well be gone, which would be unfortunate as he flashed a little.

Truman was another mildly surprising cut. He wasn't super solidly on, but i had him as the 50th or 51st guy. To be fair, after his one really solid preseason game, he didn't flash much more, maybe he was a little flash in the pan? Still seems like a PS candidate.

Did Caedan Wallace or Ben Brown have any reps at RG this summer? That looks to be the biggest hole right now if they didn't.

Somebody mentioned Brown at RG in practice recently. Sounds like he’s the 3 position backup right now.

I have to imagine they got a few but because Onwenwu is our one mainstay I can't say I paid that much attention to RG2 reps. Faux pa shame on me.

This one is for the draft nerds. Tommy Mellott the QB to WR switch that was being trained by Edelman failed to make the Raiders roster. Shame because he's supposed to be an A++ type character.

If they didn't already have Chism, I'd say put in a waiver claim.

It was Sidy Sow getting most of the backup reps at RG. Just had a look at PFF and in the games at least, neither played a single snap at RG.
