Patriots Player Departure OFFICIAL 2025 Patriots roster cutdown day discussion / tracker

If you look at our roster objectively, it only has a few names on each side of the ball that are nationally known to be proven above-average players at their position:
D: Wiliams, Gonzo, Spillane
O: Henry (past prime), Diggs (before injury), Moses (before aged)
ST: Baringer, Schooler

The Rams released Willie Lampkin. He’s a beast. The Patriots should go after him.
I wanted to see him as a FB conversion project, given his size. He just had that attitude around him at the senior bowl practices and was knocking out guys 30 pounds heavier with ease.

That said, apparently he really impressed with the Rams at center in camp, and this is considered a potential surprise cut. Would we be willing to take a risk on an undersized guy like this?

Least popular words in NE today?

"Robinson! Coach wants to see you!"

That is great. We are rebuilding and want young up and coming guys, we do not want nationally known guys.

I hope so. He's top of my wish list tomorrow. And I agree on FB. If he doesn't work out at OL he seems to be an obvious choice for moving to FB. I posted this in the waiver thread but it bears re-posting here:

Honestly... he could be a big boon. Wilson is the "center of the future" but Lampkin's worth claiming to see if he can be good enough to hold down that fort and just keep Wilson at guard.L

Lampkin is a center? Hmm.. The lack of height with proper leverage could work to his advantage. Plus the familiarity with Maye helps as well...

Bourne has to be traded. Didn’t practice for a month. Missed almost all camp. Not on IR. Doesn’t really make sense
IIRC, there were years where instead of cutting to 53, Belichick would cut to 52 or 51, anticipating signings of released players. I strongly suspect that this will not be the 53 24 hours from now.

8 wide receivers? why?

3 running back? again, why?

some of this doesn't make all that much sense

Although he was a RG when he was with Maye I believe.

When I first looked at the updated roster, I missed F-ton on the list and was ready to loose my ****.

Surprised Mapu isn't a cut. I assume he's a heavy special teamer.
