The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

It is an amazing coincidence how great QBs have great head coaches on their teams.
It’s an amazing coincidence that the great head coaches were never seen as being good - let alone great - until they got the great QBs under them.

Great players… not just QB’s. But sure, it’s a player’s game and great coaches need great players. Great coaches find and develop great players.

It’s not coincidence BB drafted and developed Brady, Gronk and other greatest players of their generation. These players didn’t just appear here or arrive by luck… that’s just what haters think. Haters aren’t very bright.

0 Super Bowl trophies with Kraft in charge.
This is a phenomenally stupid statement. Bob Kraft is the owner. He has been “in charge” since the day he bought the team.

Any power that anyone else had was only because Kraft delegated to them that power. If Belichick was “in charge” of XYZ, it was only because Kraft allowed him to be.

Mahomes and Andy didn’t sniff a Super Bowl until Andy hired Steve Spagnuolo to coach the defense…. despite an MVP season from Mahomes.

It’s a team game, coaches build the team.

Andy Reid got fired from Philadelphia.

He didn’t see another Super Bowl for 15 years and despite Mahomes being MVP didn’t win one until he hired a better defensive coach to run the D.

It’s a team game, it’s not one magical player at QB… if that were true Dan Marino would possess a ring.

QB Fanboys never played organized football. They’re easy to spot.

GMs build the team, coaches coach
Fact: GM BB forced the goat QB out of the organization and since then was the worst GM in the NFL hands down - epic failure GM Bill

BB is the winningest GM/Coach in NFL history genius.

Also Bob gave Tom his free agency rights… not Bill. Tom chose to leave, his choice.

Nothing lasts forever, stop acting like a man child.

We’re talking about head coaching here, not riding Parcells’ coat tails. As such, Belichick had never even sniffed a Super Bowl and while Reid had been to one, he was roundly ridiculed for his atrocious coaching performance in that game so it was hardly his finest hour.

One guy got fired by Philly, the other by Cleveland and no one - no one - looked at either as a good HC.

LOL at the loser who still pines for the glory days of his youth and thinks that gives him some special insight over the rest of us when discussing the NFL….

First BB has never blamed Kraft for anything you mention above so your just making things up.

That's the kind of assholery BB is engaging in by throwing out generic digs about the "owner's son". If he really cared about the team he'd be specific about what is wrong about the role the Krafts played. Since he doesn't, we can tell it's all about BB being butthurt after being dropped like a hot rock by not only the Patriots but also the other 31 teams as well. Nobody in the NFL wants him. I get it, we all can see why he'd be butthurt, but let's call it what it is.

Second you have no clue what went on behind the scenes that Bill is not happy about

But of course, you do.

but it wouldn't be about individual picks but putting people in place that can create suttle levels of mistrust and conflict. For example do you really think it was in the best interest of the team at the time to be trying to groom the future coach with the current one still in the building?

What are you on about? If it's about the Krafts promoting Mayo, keep in mind at the same time Bill was grooming his son to eventually be the HC to the point it was being said that during negotiations BB asked UNC to name his son as his successor, and in fact his son getting the 2nd or 3rd most important coaching spot on the team.

It's pretty clear that BB had lost his fastball by the end especially after he trotted out the MP, JJ and two sons coaching staff, and if I were the Krafts I know I'd be making sure I had a good succession plan in place. The thing that chafes Bill's ass is that his own succession plan was laughed at. Good thing he had Bunny to help him get through that tough phase of his life.

It's pretty clear to independent outsiders that the Krafts gave BB more control than any other executive in the NFL. He had the most conflict-free environment in the entire league. If he couldn't deal with 'suttle' levels of external input from the people who own the team that's on Bill not on the Krafts. Clearly Atlanta didn't hire him because they didn't believe him when he said he could cope with less than full control, because it's clear that he can't.

Also, do you really think someone we call the GOAT coach could not find a way to cope with the idea that the owners might have a plan on his successor? Really? Any multi-billion dollar business has a succession plan for their key executives. If BB can't cope with this he really does belong in college football in a redneck state where he can hire his son as his heir in waiting, his other son as that son's future DC, his crony as GM, his crony's son as a senior member of the coaching staff, his Lolita girlfriend as his PR flack, etc. UNC has the coach they deserve, IMO.

This is why you lose credibility on here tbh.

Brady won a Super Bowl his first year. Belichick was only in SB's as a defensive coordinator. As a head coach he only had one winning season out of 6 until he got Brady. Brady had Belichick has a HC and he was unproven as a HC until his first season with Brady as a starter.

Meanwhile, the first year Mahomes started he was an MVP. The second year Mahomes started, Reid won a Super Bowl when he never could before.

This idea that the QB's didn't boost the coaches is so absurd.

You don’t have to pine for glory days to understand football. Having played it at even the peewee level helps though.

.... Mahomes in two years as a starter was an MVP who was in overtime in an AFFCG his first year and won a Super Bowl his second year. They were one offsides penalty away from playing in a Super Bowl against a team they basically had a shootout with earlier that year. They were absolutely sniffing a Super Bowl before Spagnoulo got there even though he helped (what really helped the most was the Patriots declined the next year and weren't a problem for them).

Brady didn’t start until year two, and he was really average… but the team around him was very good.

Mahomes was MVP but couldn’t win it all because his defense sucked. In fact Drew Brees led the entire NFL in passing on a top five offense for three years (2014-2016) in a row, but his defense was ranked 32nd or near it all three years… and he won 7 games all three years… but fanboys here think it’s just the QB.

I was hoping BB would do well at UNC but after he gave that whiny interview to Volin now I’m looking forward to a sub .500 season from his team. And the Team Bill excuses which are always comical.

Yeah… when the defense improved. Learn the game. Brady won in 2001 despite being pretty average as a first year starter. It’s a team sport. Stop acting like a cheerleader in love with the QB, it’s embarrassing for a man at your age.

BB lovers can’t cope with their hoodied hero being exposed to the tune of a .426 record post Brady. He sucked before Brady and sucked after.

Hence the excuses.

11-3 then 3-0 in the playoffs.

“Pretty average”
