Hollins As A Special Teamer

clearly, the new staff had questions about Boutte, Polk, Baker and Bourne, and if they were going to be up to the task.
the first move they made at WR after signing McD was Hollins.
imo, that sent a message to the holdover 4, that Hollins is coming in to alter the WR room mind set, push everyone in practice and lead by example, not by talking.
the next moves were also telling. Investing a #2 in Williams. giving Chism very strong UDFA money. paying Diggs more money than the franchise has ever paid a WR.
still, best players make the roster and play.
remains to be seen if that is Hollins or not.
Williams was a third, but your point remains.

This reflects the situation they thought they were coming into but now that they've had a chance to work with Pop and Boutte I assume based on play time that the opinions have changed.

Also I wouldn't lump those 4 moves together. Spending on Diggs was an investment. But you're assigning to much credit to a 3rd Rd pick, UDFA, and a small signing like Hollins. The 3rd Rd pick's roster spot is safe but play time is very undetermined.

So what you're saying is, there is no reason he won't make the team.

I went back and re read my 7 or 8 posts on this thread, and can see I never said such thing. In fact, I have repeatedly said the opposite.
There is an easy explanation for that. I wasn’t responding to you. I was responding to a different poster. Go back and look at my post and who’s post it was in response to.

No, that was someone else. Do people actually look ay posts and see what they are responding to? It’s quoted.

@Clonamery pushing buttons I see.

I will be mildly shocked if he doesn't make the team.

This part really can't be overlooked. They moved on from all the old leadership, that was certainly by design. Diggs, Williams, Chism, Hollins are all fresh, clean slates. Does that mean that Pop, Boutte, Bourne, Polk, and Baker are all out? No, but there's a better than a fighters chance the the four new guys make it. As I stated above, Boutte looks like he's going to make it.

What did George Bernard Shaw say about wrestling with pigs?
Agreed

Some want to ignore the fact that new WRs were brought here and paid well. Indicating that play time is over. The WR room in NE is getting fixed.

What scares me is that you are pointing to an investment made in February or during draft weekend. I would much prefer you point to something these guys have done on the field during camp or preseason to truly separate themselves from the group. Boutte seemingly has joined the top group I hope someone else makes the next decision or 2 similarly easy in the next week or 2.

I have said exactly the opposite, numerous times
reading comprehension is not your strong suit, is it?

Well, my very serious patfan, it was aimed at the person you were chatting with but if it meant that much to you, I am honored.

my apologies
your comment was posted as a reply to my post, so I assumed it was towards me.

Hollins catching a TD VS Minnesota today.

Why is it so difficult to see that McDaniels wanted Hollins here? A Vet WR with good character that will rub off on the young WRs - Williams, Chism, Boutte, Pop may learn a thing or two.

I would not at all be surprised to see Hollins as a Game One starter with Diggs and Douglas. Vrabel brought in his 3 starters for the playoff run. Williams is not ready for prime time. However, Boutte may have the inside track as a placeholder until Williams is ready. Boutte has been a pleasant surprise (at least a surprise to some of us); and that makes five!

Boutte hasn't been a surprise to people that have been paying attention, maybe to you he has.
Chism is making this team to me, and Williams will get it, and stop dropping the fkn ball... he's probably thinking too much- we'll see.
I'll be shocked if Hollins isn't a day 1 player.
These are just MY thoughts, which are worth as much as Dude Wipes.

Wanted has nothing to do with it now. I'm just trying to pick the 5 best for the team based on what I've seen at camp.

Josh/Vrabel's opinion on guys like Hollins, Bourne, and even Polk can/will vary from what we think we see but I'm just trying to make my best guess based on what we're seeing now.

I only bring up Bourne and Polk because they are hurt and it's easy for us to write them off but Vrabel and Josh are going to have to make decisions with whatever info they have on them.

Anyway back to Hollins, Josh obviously has his reasons for bringing him in and it's quite possible others haven't done enough to overcome those reasons but to pretend like it's still February and ignore what's gone on in camp is silly. I'm going to get it wrong plenty but from what I've seen in camp Hollins is not top 5.
