I realize he was facing off against third and fourth (and even 5th) stringers...

But he was without question the most fun QB to watch of the night.

Threw a nice ball. Seem to have command of whatever offense he's absorbed so far.

Had a couple passes tipped....but nothing that got him in major trouble.

If he continues that steadiness over the next couple of preseason games....

He'll be hard to protect on the practice squad.

He will easily make it to the practice squad.
The question is whether he should be on the 53 since emergency QB is an extra active player. He wouldn’t be taking up a game day spot, and in the nightmare scenario where 2 QBs get injured you have someone to put in the game.

I was thinking if he kept it up he might deserve to be on the 53 as QB2.

There’s a lot to be said for the ball going where it’s intended to be thrown.

If Hobbs didn't have so much money tied up into his contract, and Wooldridge plays even better (or at least much better then Dobbs for the rest of the Pre-Season), I'd rather have Wooldridge than Hobbs. But, I understand that they want a veteran QB to be around Maye. Even so, Dobbs is on his 9th Team (or close to it)? How really good a #2 QB is he if Wooldridge keeps getting better? Hobbs overthrew a wide open Williams on one pass, and overthrew him on another (both would have been TD's. Food for thought. I know I'll get raked over the proverbial coals. Let the raking begin.

Dobbs’ dead cap is peanuts. Backup QB can be very open if they want it to be.

Let him run with 2’s and see what happens. Interested to see how he’d do.

No coal raking reqd. A valid opinion. Two more preseason games will let us see if it makes sense. If Dobbs doesn’t have PS eligibility though; that keeping a qb3 makes a whole bunch of other decisions harder for the 53.

I think there's no such thing as practice squad eligibility anymore, unless you want to stack it with just veterans.

Dobbs was fully guaranteed $3.8m when signed
Dobbs cap hit this season is $2.9m. if he is cut his dead cap hit is $2.7m this year and $1.05 next year
he is not going anywhere.

More importantly is the l silent or the d?

Knowing we are Fourth in the waiver Process: I am open to picking a decent QB who gets cut. I am not feeling J Dobbs.

All players are now permitted to sign PS contracts but there are limits on the number of veterans.

No he won't.

I agree, but more because throughout camp his play has been reviewed pretty favorably (absent Fri's game), rather than the money. He seems like a good professional backup.

Ideally, sunk costs should be ignored. Of course, egos get in the way.

What decent qb is going to be cut?
Teams don’t cut QBs if they can play.
