Tom Brady Ceremony Tonight (Edit: Friday August 8)

I didn't see it in person. I think it's size will make it look better when we get up close. My initial impression is that it's not bad but it's not great. I like the Bobby Orr or the Red Auerbach ones in Boston better.

Next up Yellow jacket.

PS I knew that pose seemed familiar

The body to head proportions look off to me. Face isnt bad though.
im sure someone will analyze it deeply and concludes the proportion is correct

The pads were made too big which made the head look small. It looks normal relative to his arms.

They also made the pads too big around the waste which made him look a bit overweight

My first reaction was ehhh, but after repeated views he looks llke a football god among men. I like it.
yeah they said they didnt want it to look like other qb statues with the throwing pose

Staging the unveiling in the plaza was a mistake -- way too crowded. They should have wheeled the thing INSIDE the stadium and done it there, then wheeled it back out to its permanent place. We watched the ceremony on the big screen (along with thousands of others) after trying and failing to squeeze into a direct sightline.

Good turnout for the first preseason game, BTW.

Oh hogwash. I was there and it was perfectly fine.

I was there waiting for 2 hours and was on the railing. If you were too lazy to show up early for this once and a lifetime event, that is your problem. Life is not about your entitlement.

Not odd at all. After the Statue ceremony I hope we can hold off on the Brady talk.
That's the same attitude that turned this forum into **** with the B vs B bs and forced Ian to create a separate Brady forum.

You may want to put me on ignore because I'll be reminiscing about Brady here for as long as I can.

And on a more recent topic, how about Brady taking a shot at Jets fans during his unveiling speech? That was great.

Both of them earned that respect. I agree with you totally.

That's the interesting thing: many of the pictures of the statue were snapped head on or from a downward angle, but the statue itself is intended to be looked at from below so the head is intentionally smaller, and the waist is intentionally bigger than usual, to make the statue appear more towering, more taller than it really is. This same principle of perspective illusion is used with most marble pillars which taper towards the top, to give the impression that they're taller/longer than they actually are.

I was there at 5, "lazy" or "entitled" has nothing to do with it. Anyway, sipping a cold one watching all in the big screen was fine by me. Hope the thrill of waiting two hours on a railing was worth whatever else you passed up.
