Henderson has been on fire in the past few days of training camp.

He looks like he will be a genuine playmaker for the Patriots. Maybe even a gamebreaker at times.

Who thinks Henderson will win the RB1 spot over the likes of even veteran RB Stevenson?

I think if you're playing fantasy football, Henderson could also be a sneaky good pick in round 3 or 4. He's got no rep yet but I think his versatile ability is gonna end up earning points.

In terms of impacting the team on the actual football field, having a reliable outlet like Henderson could be a huge help for Drake Maye.

When our WRs can't get open Maye can just dump it off to Henderson and let the guy make plays with his legs and speed.

Am I getting too hyped on Henderson? Maybe he still needs to prove more but I get the feeling Henderson might turn into something special for us.

Really impressive how he's playing. I'm not sure he can be a 1st down back consistently....he's 5'10 200 lb....same as James White. Looking forward to seeing what he can do once the real games start.

He will split it.

Like Woodhead with Ridley or BJGE
Like White with Blount
Like Lewis with Blount (Lewis is the best example)

Stevenson will get more touches because he will be playing mostly on downs with a higher run proportion and Henderson will be playing on downs with a higher pass proportion.

Both will be very effective.

No you're not getting too hyped. Everyone is raving about him.

That said I don't think we have to rush him into RB1. Splitting carries with Rham is good for both of them and the better he does as the year goes the more you take from Rham and give to him. But even then maybe flip from 60/40 Rham to 60/40 Henderson.

Running backs tend to fall off a cliff quickly, after being heavily leaned on in their first few years.
Stevenson had 279 touches in 2022 and 240 last year. His overall career use/touches/tackles would be higher would be higher if not for already having missed 15 games. In the meantime Rham's yards per touch had decreased from 5.2 in 2022 to 4.2, to 4.0 in 2024.

By way of comparison look at Rudi Johnson, for example. Three straight years with plenty of production and touches from 2004-2006, then 246 yards rushing over the next two seasons and his career was over. Granted Rudi had far more carries, but there are plenty of other examples. Anthony Thomas was RoY in 2001 and rushed for about 1,000 yards per his first three seasons; he was toast after that. Ryan Mathews and Eddie Lacy both had three or four good seasons in the early 2010s, then poof, disappeared. Arian Foster, Alfred Morris, Jordan Howard, Chris Carson ... running backs who have a good year or two but quickly fade away are quite common.

All that being said, I still consider Henderson to have more of a 3rd down RB role.
I do expect Stevenson to remain the lead back this season - but he will be replaced on the roster in 2026.

RB1 has not meant much under McDaniels in the past. Henderson will be featured some games, Stevenson others.

Cat like quick (???)
you tell me...

from camp today...

I think it’s interesting that Henderson’s backfield partner at Ohio State, Quinshon Judkins, was drafted at #34 ahead of Henderson, reportedly because he is more physical.

Wonder how he is doing?

HA! Browns are wondering the same thing LOL. He's clearly been more physical.

I expect Henderson to be on the field for 35-55% of the offensive snaps depending on the game plan.
Similar for Stevenson.
Gibson has to be ready when called, be it injury or Stevenson's ball security. in order to be ready, he has to get snaps each and every week.
between the 3 of them. a 40-40-20 split of offensive snaps sounds about right

I was looking at Henderson vs The Bills every down RB Cook Vs Christian McCaffrey. All 3 are 5'11". Henderson is listed at 202lbs, Cook at 190 lbs, and McCaffrey at 210 lbs. Henderson 40 Time 4.43, Cook 4.42, McCaffrey 4.48. If Cook can be The Bills every down RB at 190 lbs, Henderson could. That being said, and for the same thing they shouldn't have done with McCaffrey, Henderson should be used as a 3rd Down/Special Weapon RB/WR. I'd use Stevenson/Gibson as the "Power Backs" this Season, then draft a 1st and 2nd down RB high in next year's draft. If they use him properly (and barring injury), Henderson could be a terror to the rest of the NFL for quite a long time.

He’s our RB #1 & WR #1.

Cook played 48% of the Bills offensive snaps last year

A “3rd down back” plays 10-15 snaps a game.
You really want them splitting pretty much 50/50
But you want Henderson 50% to be in big play situations.
I’d say something like 2/1 split on first down, 1/1 on second and Henderson on 3rd.
You also want Henderson on the field in hurry up.

Henderson isn’t an every down back but he also isn’t a novelty who okays 2-3 snaps a quarter.
