C'mon, C, they all have had their moments this camp. I'm not saying they all WILL be good, just that right now there is a young corps worth trying to develop. It sometimes takes time with WR's POP didn't spring out of the womb there was a gestation period while he got better and now he is ready establish himself.

I LOVE Williams as a prospect, but I don't trust rookie WR's to simply explode out of the box like some have predicted for him. Few college programs have pro style passing offenses and it is a bigger adjustment for most WR's than most fans expect. Ergo, I think we will be really happy with the Williams pick, but I would advise to take a step back on expectations for THIS year. But think what it could look like after a full year with his QB and this offense

I'm figuring he'll get 3/90, 60 guaranteed.
He's NOT Jefferson or Chase.

Yeah, I want/we need some blue chip talent on this team. There are a couple of potential blues (Barmore, M. Williams, Maye & Diggs), but we only have one sure-fire blue chipper as it stands; we need others.

Gonzalez is the best player on the team.

Oh I agree that you need talent, and overall the Pats need to improve. The biggest wildcard is Maye. If he turns into what we all hope, that's the biggest piece of the puzzle. Then the hopes are guys like Gonzo, Barmore, White, Williams, Henderson Campbell...etc are the nucleus to build with. I'm a PSU fan and would love Parsons being a Pat, but for $40m a year and multiple high picks.....man that's a lot.

And if you look at teams like KC and Philly, most (not all) of their really talented guys are home grown. If you don't draft well you are screwed. Most teams that don't draft well and pay huge money/draft picks to acquire the talent level they failed to draft very seldom succeed.

From what I can tell the free agent market is getting worse every year, probably because the cap expansions are getting bigger and bigger, at least from what I can tell. I looked at next years free agent list and it sucked. They should be able to get some starters, guys like Spillane who fly under the radar, but the more obvious talent simply isn’t there, so they are going to have be one of the best drafting team’s in the league if they want to be a consistent contender for Lombardi’s.

Or have Maye be a top 5 QB. When you have "him" at QB, your SB window is always open. Buffalo has roster holes for years but are always there with the best teams because of Josh. For as good as KC is, they won SBs with less than a stellar supporting cast because of Mahomes. We won SBs with questions at lots of positions. Philly is kinda the rare case where the whole roster was pretty strong. Sure you could nitpick and find a weak point, but top to bottom their roster was/is quite strong. So it's a big if, but if Maye can be that type of QB, then we can be a SB contender without being the best drafting team, we simply have to be a good drafting team and make smart FA moves, not huge splash signings.

Well said Sir. Power to the Maye
Saw a piece that suggested Bourne, Polk, and a 2d. I'd jump on that one in a heartbeat.

I agree that a great QB goes a long way, but you still need a really good team around them to win Lombardi’s. I believe they can do that with their current set up, but the more success they have the more demand there will be for their front office guys to take over other teams, so they will have to continually build young talent behind them to keep their front office strong.

Wasn’t he still under his previous contract then; and isn’t this new one here fairly incentivized?
I don't think Diggs is at the point of his career where he cares what number you assign him. He definitely has had his outbursts in the past. While not ideal, they have always been because he feels when he's not getting the ball the team isn't giving itself the best chance to win. I personally like a competitor like that, altho he most certainly could have been more tactful. He's had personnel success and made his money, but has never enjoyed the team success he craves. I would think that's his ultimate goal before he hangs up his cleats.

He was fine playing 3rd fiddle in Houston.

He was WR3 at the start of the season.

Didn’t matter as much under his previous contract, since it was already signed & sealed anyway…

I wish I could readily access his contracts on Spotrac but I’m in Dennisport now for the next few days so II won’t be able to sit in front of my handy-dandy Mac until Wednesday/Thursday…

You seem to be suggesting just because of incentives that he wouldn't also still want a very good teammate that could help him win more? I don't want to underestimate the paycheck but you're making some assumptions based on nothing. When he signed his deal for all he knew Hunter was going to fall to us would that have been a problem too?

Guess that ends hopes of Diggs getting a thousand, right?
It absolutely could.

It greatly hampers it if we are looking at stats.
However if we get 4 or 5 WRs at 800 yds each that would be ideal.i

I see Williams as a 600 to 800 yd 6 to 8td kind of season.
