After that Big play Boutte was being shaded by the Safety's on many deep plays. I think Boutte will benefit from Diggs and torch the Defense silently. Some here are really undervaluing Boutte.
Yes, and they know who they are. Those same ones I remember praising Boutte last season. He went from BB dog house in 2023 to a guy who's gotten better and will continue to get better.

Polk and Baker need to hit the ground running or Taxi squad here they come.

I think Boutte can become a good NFL receiver. He showed signs of being that last year, and had good chemistry with Maye. 50+ catches as WR 4 is probably a realistic season for him this year. Maybe more if he keeps progressing.

Agreed there Scott, I just realistically don't understand how some just dismiss him.. he's a young player that has. Future in the NFL and is developing here. Those are the guys you want on your team.

Some of them would prefer waiting on Harry and Tyquan Sixth year Breakout???

Didn't realize there was cult meeting here this morning.

While I agree with your overall point, you don't need a top 10 #1 WR to win, let's also keep in mind those offenses weren't that good either. They knew who they were, a ball control, give our defense a chance to rest, don't make mistakes, take what is given, non explosive offense and a big part of it was lack of talent at WR. The other part was a young Brady that still needed time to grow but let's not over romance how good they were because they won a super bowl. Of the 58 teams that have won super bowls that 2001 team is ranked somewhere in the 50's as far as talent. Heart and grit? Somewhere in the top 10 for sure but you can't build a team like that expecting to consistently win.
2001 offense - 7th in points per drive
2003 offense - 19th in points per drive
2004 offense - 5th in points per drive

In 2003 they dealt with injuries in the regular season. Antoine Smith was also on his last legs and they limited his reps in the regular season using Faulk instead. In the playoffs they got healthy and rode Smith hard.

Top ten is pretty good in scoring.

Are you opening up a new thread every day or just this one? I think one thread could get too big.

good idea... just opened one... going forward if I don't open one, someone else can feel free to open a daily TC thread if they so desire...

Steve!!!!!

You know this team is not 1-2 WRs away from being in the SB right? We thought the defense would be dominant last year, and how did that work? Everything sucked. Now I am optimistic that they have proper coaching, and that's huge, but players still play. What you're going to learn this year is who can play and who can't. Separate the wheat from the chafe.

Not with our FA splash and Draft I think we are going to be very good Steve. Even You are going to be surprised.

I'm optimistic that we will battle for a playoff spot. But I am not thinking that one of these knuckleheads at WR is suddenly going to morph into Randy Moss. Diggs might help mentor, but he might be a selfish prick, too. Williams has by far the most upside right now. The rest... meh.

Still doesn't change the fact that you refuse to talk about anything else other than WRs, your grace.

Me change you called me the WR High Priest.

Me change you called me the WR High Priest??

There's so much that was wrong with this team. If they fixed everything but WRs they'll be freakin' great. If they fixed nothing else but WRs, they'll still suck.

I'm hoping to hear good things from Polk and Baker. I can dream can't I??
