The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

I wish both of them would STFU. Embarrassing
Pretty much agree, but this last one is on Belichick. Kraft saying it was a risk to hire him and look it worked out great and all that is completely benign and really positive actually. Belichick freaking out and running out to say something has the vibe of his dopey girlfriend instigating something

Initially I took it as a benign and even a little bit of an olive branch too and I wish Bill saw it that way too but I don't know how you fault Bill for feeling the way he does. I mean this is Kraft still talking about himself.

I didn't see it as me me me but it kind of was it's Kraft talking about what he did and also making Bill out to be less than the perfect candidate.

And let's not forget that Bill deserved to be treated better and not just cast aside after one 4 win season. For Bill this is all still very new and very raw and it's not surprising that he would see the negative in anything Kraft has to say.

I'm sure everyone on here has great things to say about the former bosses that fired you.

The issue is Kraft made it sound like Bill was unwanted and washed up. He made it sound like Bill was a complete failure in CLE which he wasn't. There were other teams which had interest in BB including the Raiders and not to mention the NYJ.

Another case of Bob pumping his own tires and making sure he should get credit for the Dynasty.

@signbabybrady and @RobertWeathers Point taken on both, but I think if the other garbage hadn’t happened we wouldn’t see what Kraft said as being an issue. As far as him still talking, he’s still the owner of the team and he’s getting interviewed by a former player so it is what it is in that regard.

I do agree it would be better if both of them just stopped talking about the other.

I agree. But your post is how BB should have responded.

BB should have said RK likes to throw faint praise so he can shine his own shoes at the same time. Lots of people don't recognize that trick, look at the responses in this thread.

This is a situation where Kraft is correct, but he's saying it as part of the ongoing effort to put himself on a pedestal to look better. The problem is that BB is now going into the mud with him when before this felt like a one sided affair and Belichick was coming out with the high ground for generally ignoring it. And it's kinda weird that this was the thing that got pushback because it is one of the more benign attempts by Kraft to talk up his role.

I agree 100%.

Sorry...what is Kraft correct on?

Agree that Bill has chosen to publicly respond to this particular talking point (re: risk) as strange. However, it's part of an overall campaign that Bob has been peddling via mediums like AppleTV, interviews, and other NFL owners which positions him as more important and Bill not as important and sometimes detrimental that Bill has had it with.

Kraft is trying to shape the narrative (re: his importance) for his own posterity - which is fine....but hes doing it at Bill's expense. Bill cannot abide by that and I don't blame him.

Kraft really might be petty enough to try keeping BB out of the Patriots HOF. Which would be tragic.

Kraft is correct that Belichick was a risk. His tenure in Cleveland was viewed as a disaster at the time and the fans hated him and we had to give up a first rounder on him. It was a risk, he’s not wrong on that.

Of course this is part of an ongoing effort by Kraft to look more important. But this isn’t even something that dismisses Bill. It’s basically Kraft saying “I bet on Bill, and I was right”.

It’s weird that this is the point where Bill is fighting back on it when he took the high ground before.

Agree but every coaching hire has some level of uncertainty and risk. I'd argue Pete Carroll was more of a risk than Bill. Mayo was a risk. Vrabel seems less of a risk but this is the first time Vrabes has personnel control so we'll see.

At least BB built a 11 win team from a 3-13 team the year before he arrived that went to a div playoff with the cheapest owner in the NFL who submarined his own team's season.

I think it has a different spin now. Before it was the risk of giving up a 1st rd pick and the ROI. Now it's, "BIll sucked, no one wanted him, and everyone told me to stay away"

The Bills and Revens are better teams. They just need to get rid of the psychological block that causes each of them to self destruct against Mahomes and the Chiefs.

They really need to stop KC from having that #1 seed. Last year KC had the easiest path to the Super Bowl imaginable - and still needed the refs to blow the calls on 2 Buffalo first downs.
KC has it even better this year. They play six playoff teams and all but one at home.

Who wants it?

It's incredibly sad.

So much success shared. So much bitterness between them.
Yes, it is incredibly sad. That team (Brady, Bill and Bob) should have gone into the sunset together and in tune with each other.

I guess it was so much beyond successful that they're getting a little kick back.

Only one of the three principals in this twisted love triangle is behaving humbly, keeping his piehole closed and his head down, and otherwise acting in a classy manner and that is Tom. The other two are behaving like adolescents.
