Hm. I think he was a pretty decent 3-position backup as the last OL on the 53. Hopefully other guys step up. I read that Sidy Sow was getting top backup RG reps which has me feeling positive, as he looked good previously in this scheme before having a down year in AVP's scheme.

Yup, normally now or training camp is when they realize they can’t or don’t want to do it anymore.

People are convinced that guys like Boutte and or Chism won't pass through waivers. I am not sure that is true. At least not yet.

The reason why they would keep an extra lineman on the roster is because they could be tweaking the line up the first month of the season trying to find the best line up and rotation players. That is why they would keep more linemen than WRs.

I think Chism wouldn’t make it through waivers because six teams devoted one of their 30 visits to him, I think one of the other five teams would grab him.

Pretty unusual to have an UDFA trying to make the team talk to reporters. I think they really like his odds to make it right now, or he already made full blown believers of them. I know people talk about 'wait till the pads come on'. But there is a flip side to that. The Pads aren't even on yet, and if you aren't winning hard now, why should we expect you to win super hard later? I think Chism will translate just as well once the Pads go on and i think they know it. Calling it now, he's a lock. Not just likely. Lock.

Honestly, i don't want to hear about the offense lapping the D day after day. This D should be too good for that to happen. And while these practices tends to favor the offense by their nature, this D should make it a little hard on them considering the talent they have,

I didn't. I honestly expected him to make a big push for a back up job. And if not for his age or some injury stuff we may not know about he probably would have. He's been a decent back up for a while. I guess at 31 (was going to be 32 to start the year) he tried to give it one more year and found he didn't have it any more. Better to say so now and not waste his or our time. He gave it an honest go. What else can you ask?

FYI just looked it up cause i was curious... made 22M before taxes, agent fees and other stuff... so he walks with maybe 10M of that... good for him! If my body said no i wouldn't put myself through it either. He did get a 150K signing bonus... I wonder how much he keeps of the contract he signed... It seems unfair to pay him zero when he went through the trouble of showing up and helping our guys practice. Very curious how all that works.

That was the first thing to come to my mind when I read the report and then posted about it. UDFA being made available to the media?

That's a very good point and would seem like a very good sign.
