A Dawg is a Dawg

Tough to blame BB for that one

Bob Kraft said otherwise at the owner’s meeting entering 2021. It was only after collaboration crashed and burned he said Bill had total control. Then Bill gave an interview a month ago and said personnel changed the last few years in New England.

But the haters here have to make Bill the sole scapegoat… so here we are.
You love to bring up this idea of a collaboration to deflect blame from Belichick (even though the drafts were awful well before this collaboration). However you never address that there was never a single indication that Bill didn't have final say AND in the same breath choose to use Kraft's words to support your point and then ignore them when they don't suit you.

The reality is, there is zero evidence the collaboration was anything but Kraft telling Belichick that he needed to play nicer with Wolf and co. And even if I take your argument at face value, the collaboration process was made... because Bill was doing a bad job at team building.

The fact is, the 4 years post Brady, nobody in the org had more control of team operations than Bill Belichick. He's not a scapegoat for being forced to own his poor results.

Although there continue to be reports about UNC boosters being less than enthusiastic about BB's new "Be a Distraction" philosophy, it all really comes down to how the players and recruits respond to his coaching.

And even if his guys completely buy in to his coaching philosophy (which to them is more about making it into the Pros) how the guys actually perform on the field is what's going to salvage Belichick's reputation after this rocky start.

That's somewhat unfair as these aren't even his recruits and will probably be sub- .500 again, but that's the way it goes

But if I were them I'd think its pretty cool to be coached by BB as well even if they're also scratching their heads watching their head coach's behavior

100% true. BB should take full accountability for the Mac Jones fiasco. Its a huge stain on his legacy. Poor judgment in drafting him and terrible job coaching and handling him.
Greatest coach of all time is only allowed a small number of mulligans. BB also completely failed to plan for successor after Brady’s departure.

I agree it was Belichick’s decision and he owns it. I don’t consider the failure post Brady as a stain on his legacy, because a 20 year dynasty in the salary cap free agency era NFL is an astounding feat. It’s like saying Michael Jordan’s time with the Wizards stained his career. Most greats be it coaching or playing fail at the end, and that’s why they leave the game, usually by someone else’s choice.

I think Belichick will end up being successful at UNC. His coaching skills are unparalleled, and no one is a better game strategist. Most college teams don’t face an opposing coach who can make you have to beat them with your weaknesses.

This may not be the best time to mention it, if there is one, but I can see Bill Belichick being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a Giant.

The NFL HoF doesn't put anyone in with a specific team affiliation.

Not officially but they sort of can? Peyton was in Denver on the field at Mile High when his induction was revealed to him. Tells me he considered himself a Denver Bronco first and that would be “his team” at his induction.

Bitterness at the Colts?

Unlike baseball football players and coaches don’t go in representing a team. They just get a bust. Unfortunately I think Bill is going to have them induct Bunny in his place.

So you think Bill wants everyone looking at Bunny's bust? Instead of his which is obviously substantially larger?

The 2021, 2022 and 2023 Patriots seasons might merit an * due to the Bunny factor. She entered BB's life on Feb. 11, 2021.

Belichick had final say as Perry says right here. It was his decision to draft Mac Jones. Sure perhaps with some input from the collaborative process but still his call... and like how it is with any leader in any organization his failure in NE falls on the GM alone. Nobody else. Full stop. Q.E.D. The end. All opinions to the contrary are wrong, period.
The owners who fired BB had final say on everything.

Also a gaggle of reporters who hated Bill for being gruff and short tempered are not reliable sources.

Bob Kraft said it entering 2021 after hiring Wolf, Bill Belichick confirmed it in an interview a month ago. We don’t need anymore circumstantial evidence, the two foremost authorities have spoken.

Personnel changed in 2021, Bob said it did.

Who knows more than those two guys?

The haters here?
