The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

Belichick is responsible for all personnel decisions during his reign, good and bad. Those decisions led to a 20 year Dynasty and 6 Lombardi’s, no one has ever come close to that. Trying to tear him down because they faltered after a 20 year dynasty is as stupid as it gets. Feel free to show everyone a GM/Coach in the Super Bowl era who accomplished more, you won’t be able to do it. And the truth of the matter is that every dynasty in NFL history has faltered for years after their dynasty ended. If I’m not mistaken the Cowboys have won 1 playoff game since their 90’s dynasty ended. That’s the price you pay for extended greatness.
I agree and I’m not trying to tear him down. I’ve only said before he lost me for good with the Patricia and Judge hires and quite frankly the game had passed him by.

Pointing out the obvious makes one a hater according some charminy soft posters…so it’s my obligation to laugh at them.

More of you twisting my words just to fit your narrative. Why don't you answer why your intentionally ignoring Brady's emotions when he talks about Bill and twisting his words to fit you're narrative too?

The answer is because you hate Belichick and aren't even a Patriots fan.
ok h8r

Was it Bill's arrogance that caused Deflategate too?

I mean it's multiple different occasions and you can't accept it. Brady recognizes how important Bill was to his career it makes zero sense why you wouldn't believe him. And it's obvious by the fact you refuse to explain yourself.

3 separate and emotional responses:

Look at Brady's smile here just talking ball with coach.

Hi
They are.
I've learned a lot from other posters on this site over many years now, about things other than football, and I hope you do too.

Presence in the U.S. without proper documentation is a civil offense.

Not a criminal one.

And, the percentage of the 11-12 million undocumented who are actual criminals is a fraction of that of those here legally, mostly citizens.

I'm not happy about it but one thing we can all agree on is that Democrats have not and will never, ever do anything to fix this or anything else.

Bill's problem as it's always been is arrogance and trying to be the smartest in the room.

Explains the draft failures. In the case of spygate he was arrogant enough to try word games with the memo about taping to his own advantage thinking that he could out lawyer Goodell if questioned about it. That wasn't his job. He had to know that one phone call to the league asking for clarification on the memo before the game would have saved him, the franchise and us fans a lot of grief the last couple of decades.... but he didn't do that and went ahead with his plan anyway.
Of course, Bill was right about the specifics, but he really contradicts the false image people have that his usually stoic appearance means he's not emotional. Mangini warned him, and it was more important to Bill to be pissed that Eric took the money to coach the Jets and the whole situation. Yes, it's a shame the world is what it is but it's wrong to let your annoyance at it hurt yourself and those you're supposed to be leading and protecting.

Again, he's right that everyone is full of **** but people don't care.

This. The Patriots got punished for Spygate, mostly because Belichick was given every single possible courtesy to avoid doing something the league didn't want done anymore (they weren't enforcing the rule on it pre Goodell, Goodell came in with a mandate from owners to be a disciplinarian who would run a tight ship, he sent a memo saying that they would strictly enforce that rule and Mangini straight up warned Bill not to do it against his team) and he decided to try to play smart aleck and it blew up in his face. And for a league where teams are inherently jealous and envious of other teams success, it gave everyone the red meat to validate their insecurities that one team was constantly better than them.

Was it blown way out of proportion? Yes. It was also entirely avoidable, Belichick got every warning to avoid it that he could have. And had he just took a chill pill for once he could have saved the team and players and fans significant penalties and years of grief.

You can say a lot of things about the league in regards to Spygate, but one thing you can't say was that it was some big set up to catch Bill with his pants down and railroad him. He was given exit opportunities at multiple points.

Many greats in every sport fall off at the end of their career, it doesn’t diminish what they accomplished imo.

As for the never ending back and forth between you and SBB, why don’t you guys just put each other on ignore and give everyone else a break from it. I have had my share of these slap fights and that’s the one thing that puts an end to them.

Absolutely. Although in Bill’s case a lot of damage is being done these days to his legacy. This isn’t the BB that coached the Pats. Hopefully he recognizes what an embarrassment the two of them are rn and tells her to take a hike.

I made that offer and he said no. Weird… and I’m accused of being the troll. Lol

Bill just needed to make one 2 minute phone call to the league to check if his taping plans were ok with respect to the rules and that memo. They would have said no and that would be that. Us fans wouldn’t have been put through hell either. Bill’s arrogance did him in.

And yeah he is very arrogant… ask coach Marv Levy and especially his wife why they despise Bill.

The ironic thing is you were a big Belichick meat rider when Brady went to Tampa but you opened your eyes and admitted you were wrong

Just a reminder that when Bledsoe went down and Brady stepped in and BB did not go back to Bledsoe, the crap hit the fan..
There was general outcry among all the sports scribes and most fans about how "BB lied to Drew" and a whole bunch of other BS.. as usual BB ignored the noise and the rest was history.
The ascendency of the Pats was a by product of that decision, if BB had handed the reigns back to Drew does anyone think that we would have seen in #12's reign???

The Bill cheerleader is strong in this one.

Like Tom was going to say anything else about his former coach. Lol.

I love the logic: Tom won't crap all over Bill, so I'll do it instead.

I'm sorry you're mad at Bill, but he did not create antiPatriots bias, and if he made it worse, it was through success much more than his irritation with the stupidity of the league and his arrogance.

It's the thing to loudly believe the myth that the Patriots 'cheated', along with the one that the vast majority of undocumented immigrants in this country are 'criminals'.
I'm over the stupidity that led to the GOAT QB leaving this team. And I don't believe the Pats are cheaters, never did, but their reputation under Bill was definitely that of a cheater. That's why you have non-sports fans on a national broadcast who are calling the team and Brady cheaters 18 years later.

The vast majority of immigrants are not criminals and everyone knows that. My grandparents were all immigrants. That doesn't mean that we have to allow every flame-throwing antisemite, murderer, rapist and human trafficker to stay here.

Just do it yourself, then you won’t see his posts and it will end.
