Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

SGA’s free throw at 2:52 made it 108-99. Erasing a 9 pt lead in the final three minutes, against the best defensive team in the league, seemed almost like a letdown compared to the other scenarios they’ve overcome in the playoffs.

Teams were 0-121 in the finals trailing by 9+ with less than 3 minutes

is that some kind of a record?
Good question, I guess the question is has a team ever trailed the whole way and then won on a buzzer beater, just googled for a minute and I couldn’t find one

It’s insane. Down 15 with under 10 minutes, down 9, have never seen a run like this

One of the great things about sports is how a team can feel like they're going to win, even when it looks very bleak. Russell's C's had it and so did Brady's Pats. I know it's early but the Pacers have some of that going.

Another thing I remember from playing team sports is how there were days where the team just wasn't into it, but something was said or done by the other team and you could feel a big difference. All of a sudden everyone's fired up.

Surprised but not surprised. This Pacers team is playing so lose and with confidence.

I still think OKC will win the series in 6 but instead of being supremely confident i'm just .......confident.

Glad Pacers won. Not that I give a f*ck who wins but now it makes for a series worth watching.

Reminded me of a certain Super Bowl where a team escaped a 28-3 hole and never led until the last millisecond.

9 players made 3 pointers, the team shot 46% from 3, no player scored 20, 6 were in double figures, and one (McConnell) had nine.

Balance. That's almost a totally foreign style of play for a team in the championship hunt in the modern era.

On 2nd thought, I'm pulling for the Pacers for one reason and one reason only:
Larry Joe Bird
Yep. Larry Legend is still a consultant with the Pacers.

In a series like this, the goal is just to get it to game 7. So for the Pacers to win three, they’ve already got one, the home team always has an advantage in game three, and then they need a fluky game or a game where somebody just totally goes off. (Although the way the Pacers are playing, they might sweep, who the hell knows anymore)

That being said, I still believe OKC wins the series, likely in 7
I agree...but.

The Pacers remind me of that scene in Rocky 2 when Apollo Creed asks Duke why he thinks he shouldn't fight Balboa again.

"I saw you beat that man like no man has been beat before....but he STILL kept coming after you.".

Pacers come back from big deficits in Q4. They get blown out and win the following game. So resilient.

They are playing like they have nothing to lose.

But as we I'm sure agree, OKC is a tough, talented, and better team than Indy. They should pull it out.

Talented? Yes. Tough? That’s the question. They’re tough on the court, sure, with Caruso and Dort being their real backbone, but are they mentally tough? Their last two eliminations (last year vs Dallas, this year vs Milwaukee in IST final) have raised some questions for me. More about how they lost than that they lost.

I do not recognize the IST as a event which helps us understand the mettle of a team. I swear it's a step above the Maui Classic.

Last year the DAL was another example of a team that got hot. OKC added some talent since then and learned from the experience....I think.

They were playing to win the IST and felt pressure to win. They imploded. That’s my takeaway. Agree the IST itself is a clown show.

The Celts did as well. They knew what was in front of them and 1/2 assed it vs ATL

Wtf is up with the huge gap between games 1 and 2? Ridiculous.
I'm sure it's about $$.
But might backfire on the NBA. I'm already losing interest.
It's too f'n long.

totally! happens with some tv series too. the gap is so long you just lose interest. If I ran the world, or at least just the NBA, play back-to-backs and a day off on the travel day.
