Goal 1. What we need to do to win the AFC east in 2025?

I’m an optimist but I think this is improbable, and people expecting it are going to end up disappointed. My best hope is still that they are in the hunt for a wild card in December. As far as the East goes they need to hope that Buffalo comes back to them and has a 10-7 type season, I’m not expecting 12-13 wins out of this team, just major improvement from the recent sucking.

Then the season will not be a success, AFC East or bust... high goals!

Buffalo added two receivers, Elijah Moore and Joshua Palmer to join Shakir and Kincaid. Allen will try to spread the ball around. Pressure makes that tougher to do. The OL is basically the same and it’s adequate. Palmer, Shakir are basically the deep threats. Meh.

Most of the players they added are on defense. Coverage sucked and pass rush was just ok, so they needed it. Allen is why they went to the AFCC.

Maye now has players and coaches around him. He needs to step up the way Allen did. He’s really the key.

but has a winning system and the role players to carry it out, kind of like many Patriots teams of the Brady era.

So far I think they have proven that they don't otherwise they would have done more.

The Buffalo Bills are a team in the American Football Conference (AFC) of the National Football League (NFL). Specifically, they compete in the AFC East division. The Bills have won the AFC East division title multiple times, including five consecutive titles from 2020 to 2024. So slow down Allen and win the 4th quarter with clutch plays.. Right?

The NE offense has been the culprit in all the losing by not being able to convert 3rd downs and putting the NE defense back on the field. The Pats defense holds up for a while, but eventually wears down.

Convert 3 downs on offense and keep the ball and score points. Preferably TDs. Try to play with the lead.

Allen cant hurt anybody without the ball.

I look back at last year and how dysfunctional the team was with the coaching and the personnel and yet there were 6 games that they lost by 7 or fewer points. The team could have been 10-7 if you can wrap your head around that. But with all the changes top to bottom that is a foundation that this team is not built upon except for one player, Mr. Maye. He will be the driving force for how this team does. His play impacts both sides of the ball. Last year we saw the defense hold its own in most games until the 3 and outs put them in a state of exhaustion. If Drake can minimize his errors/injuries this team will be a threat but not yet a true contender.

Sure if our new player and rookies look good and the line holds up and the scheme/play calling is on point and we protect the ball and we can get pressure on the qb and we create turnovers and we dont get bit by the injury bug then sure we probably go to the SB but every team probably could say the same thing.

I think they could slip by Buffalo but I don't expect it this year as so much is new to the program and working out the bugs and gelling takes time. I feel like if all goes well (better than .500) this season and continues to move in the same direction in 2026 (when we have that solid foundation established) that's when I fully expect them to regain control of the AFC East.

I'm a big believer in ball control and time of possession. When our offense has the ball....their offense doesn't. Dink and dunk and run the ball. I don't think we will win many shoout-outs in 2025. I think that is a good formula for a young QB.
Not sure that we won't be able to win a shootout this season my guy Zuma. I'm looking at all the positive factors. When we last had Josh with a lesser QB, we had a top 10 scoring offense and was one of the best red zone teams in the league.

We have a guy in Diggs that we haven't had in a while. Someone who can carry coverage and must be accounted for. But your right the idea is controlling the line of scrimmage run/pass, and hit deep shots when they are there. A good offense doesn't see 3rd down much or 3rd and long much. I feel like we could become a good offense. The pass catching back will greatly benefit Drake. Remember when we played Dallas in that wild shootout in 2021.. I believe this years team can move the ball and score.

Good stuff... the NFL is such a sport where teams can become overnight contenders..we've been a bad football team for a while now. We have all the ingredients to be a good one now and going forward.

Everything Buffalo does revolves around Josh Allen obviously. We can score on Buffalo we did that with Mac Jones! The key here is the interior rush.. the outside pass rush does nothing to affect Josh Allen you have to rush up the A and B gaps push his center back into him.

Interior pressure is how you beat a dual threat QB, Allen doesn't have the elite speed like Lamar but he uses his big frame to run over defenders when he gets outside the pocket.. I can't say it enough... interior rushing will be pivotal. We have a deep rotation of guys to stay fresh this season to do so.

What a time to be alive with AI now making forum accounts and posting.

Something of note.. the last few seasons even under BB, I can't remember the last time I heard the team mention publicly about the goal is winning the division.

When Vrabel said that recently..as a fan.. i immediately felt a sense of renewed confidence and belief that we can.

If we play to our potential it's a reality.

According to JM Maye is making leaps and bounds and getting on really well learning the play book. Come the beginning of the season I think (hopefully) we can give Buffalo a run for their money.

How does a 5 time reigning division champ have an atrocious roster?
The only reason they are a 5 time division champion is because the Pats dynasty dissolved and the current league is the worst we’ve ever seen. In fact, they’d be fighting for a playoff spot yearly if the dynasty was playing today. I also already explained it in my prior post. GB owned their division for years because there was no competition. Bills rarely had threats as each team imploded. Every year media fans looked at GB and now Buffalo’s records and think they’re good while ignoring the roster and who they played. Both teams got what was coming to them once they faced better competition and it became real in the playoffs. Bills are never going to win anything until that roster gets better offensively and defensively.
Buffalo lacks high end stars outside its QB, but has a winning system and the role players to carry it out, kind of like many Patriots teams of the Brady era.
Don’t ever compare the Bills to the Pats rosters. It’s not even close and an insult to those players.

They are a short list Super Bowl contender. I hate them, but credit where credit’s due.

Overtaking Buffalo isn’t an impossibility, but it would take this team reaching their ceiling - most of the FA signings and rookies need to pan out. The schedule works in out favor…win the games you’re supposed to win, steal one from Buf, hope they slip up against Baltimore and Philly, and you’re within striking distance.

More likely, we knock on that door in earnest in ‘26.
I hear ya, our rosters during the championships and winning did posses some high end talent, Seymour, Vrabel, law, Bruschi, Rodney, Malloy, Hightower, Jones, Edelman, Welker, moss, Gronk, Hernandez, McCourty, Wilfork, you make great points. Outside of Allen, millano and cook. There probably isn't much that you'd say can start on an NFL roster.

We know Diggs is a #1 WR on this Team IF we get that #2 whether it's Williams - Boutte or Bourne we are in business. H Henry - Pop Douglas and E Chism should feast inside the numbers. IF Maye makes the expected jump and we develop that #2 WR we can win our Division. The Bills window is closing they lost some opportunities and they don't have a lot of IMPACT Players.

How can anyone criticizing the Bills for lack of "impact players" or "high end talent" think we have a shot to overtake them? We have the least "impact players" or "high end talent" in the whole NFL by a pretty wide margin IMO.

When it comes to playoffs and division wins, I am interested in 2026, not 2025. The rebuild is far from done. That's how bad the team had become under Old Weird Bill. I hope to see progress this year, and I think I will, given a good draft, pretty good trades, a really interesting group of undrafted guys, and far better coaching. That's what I'll be rooting for: progress.
