The Bill megathread (HC at UNC, girlfriend, etc.)

A picture is worth a 1000 words Side note that horse is Secretariat the greatest racing horse ever.
Love at first sight and first ride: Turcotte described his initial meeting with Secretariat as "love at first site and love at first ride". He found him a "beautiful horse to work with" who was like an "older horse that had done it all his life".

He was born about two hours from where I live in VA. He still holds the records for all three races of the triple crown. A record that has stood for over 50 years. He is the absolute GOAT.

I didn't think BB was ready for prime time as a coach in his Cleveland years (kinda like Pete here) so I always downplayed that part of his career.

But a .426 record after Brady leaving including one historical beatdown in the playoffs... that's absolutely atrocious. As his roster building also shows he was exposed as someone who may know his defense but tbh not a whole lot about offense today. Brady was an offensive savant and that was the canyon sized hole that Brady left behind. Sure Bill didn't exactly have the best QB's to work with at the end... so maybe he should have taken that up with the GM of the team.
That's actually very close to what I said about him in the waning days of his being here. I would have loved to have kept BB the HC but we absolutely had to get rid of BB the GM.

The Patriots were arguably the single least talented team in the NFL his final year here.

Bill sans Brady is part of BB's story. "Fair" or not.

This I agree with. You have to take the bad with the good. Belichick wanted to move on from Brady as much as Brady wanted to move on from Belichick. Belichick gambled that he could build a winner with a new QB and he failed, that’s just reality. But even with that on his record he’s still the GOAT.

You're talking like we're cherry picking. It's not cherry picking when the "worst" part of his career is the exact same part of his career where he didn't have the GOAT QB's services. Which is the topic at hand.

I thought Bunny was the topic at hand?

I honestly don’t know why this subject is so difficult for some Patriots fans. Bill Belichick would not have been the GOAT without Tom Brady. And Tom Brady would not have been the GOAT without Bill Belichick. Both of them know this to be true, so let’s just leave it at that.

Monkeys are gonna fling poo at each other, it's what they do.
They have no regard for who gets splattered, the stench or how obnoxious and infantile it is. They enjoy it so F everybody else

If Curran is right, this is a very bad look for Bill.
Mailing it in during the 23 season?

The guy who says do your job is distracted by a 23 year old cheerleader.
The guy is a hypocrite.

He treated Mac very bad at the end of that year.

His final season here, Bill Belichick was like the guy who wanted to break up with his girlfriend (in this analogy, the Patriots are the girlfriend, not Bunny) but he was too chickenshit to do it himself so he completely checked out mentally, acted like a total jerk, and then let the Patriots do what any self respecting organization would do and drop his sorry ass.

His problem is once he got on the open market, he was nowhere near the catch he thought he was. He got on his hands and knees to beg the Jets for a job but they told him to go screw. Atlanta allegedly came close, but now they definitely feel like they dodged a bullet.
