The whole "gotta get a 'proven receiver'" thing has been, as I have said all along, a fool's errand, a sop to impatient fanboys who crave a shiny object which does a rebuilding team no good. A "proven player" is a player who has over time proven himself. Unfortunately, playing over an extended time also makes you older and, in a violent game, the injuries and wear and tear accumulate. By the time a rebuilding team can make actual use of his (declining) abilities, that shiny object has tarnished and worn down to a useless distraction. Add to this that there is typically a damned reason a "proven player" is available, often as a result of character issues. Typically as well, particularly among WR's, there is often a growing sense of entitlement, of immunity from the very expectations the meeting of which "proved" the player in the first place. That is the case with this bum, and that's what he is: a bum who is in the process of aging out and is already opting out of the expectations which even the most mediocre, and cheap, players should meet.
He talks a good game, but he's full of ****. There's reason his former teams dumped him.
Foolish from the start, and now you pay the price.
