We did it in stages but we've taken it a step further. I'm a born and raised Townie. I met my Bride (a native Maineiac) when she was in Boston attending college. From a career standpoint Maine was not an option for me but she'd had her fill of city living. I dragged my feet a bit but became a reluctant suburbanite when we moved to a quiet town on the North Shore to raise our family. She and our boys summered in Maine with my country-ish transition happening on weekends. Now we're retired to The Foothills, once a month or so Ma n me hook up the buckboard and do some shoppin' in the big city of N. Conway NH then we beat a retreat with our supplies as fast as we can back through the woods to this here mountain. All the way back we're cussin' the flat-lander tourist types pluggin' up our road. No 'road' isn't a typo, this is Western Maine and we only got the one, without which 'you can't get there from here'
I'll always be a Masshole. I appreciate it here but there's honestly a lot I miss about living in Boston and its environs. Not the least of which is having a myriad of ways to get somewhere. That's something I really took for granted. OFC more roads mean more people so... yeah, F that
