@signbabybrady You said the question for you will be if anyone below him more capable of that in the next year or 2. I see Hollins filling a special role with the team this year that he is better than the rest of the wide receivers at and thats being a strong willing blocker. I really think he will be used often to spring guys like Henderson, Williams, Douglas and maybe Chism.
If both Chism and Hollins are on this team then that probably means Polk, Boutte, Bourne, and Baker aren't. I don't see us carrying 6 because we probably want a FB and possibly as many as 4 TEs.
I don't really have a preference out of any of them other than to point out that Hollins has very limited long term value. But if Polk, Boutte, Bourne, Baker, or Chism can't beat him then I'm good whatever just move on. Chism hopefully could be a PS guy but given the interest in him as a UDFA that might not work.

Yes sir. There's also another huge benefit:
unblocking is easier than passblocking and when ol starts pushing around a defense unblocking, they start feeling good about themselves and work better as a unit. That is important when you have so many new ol.
It sounds funny but it's absolutely true- when an ol starts having some success runblocking, it makes them better at passblocking.
You can't do play action if you can't run the ball.
It opens up the offense and allows Josh to get more creative.
And of course, takes some pressure off Maye so he doesn't have to play hero ball and throw picks.
Will be fun to watch how this offense develops.
Love how autocorrect took the r off runblocking. I guess unblocking is good too if you're constipated

Lol I was just unblocking while catching up on this thread. Pins and needles damn.

Owenu’s attitude will not be tolerated under Vrabel.

He will need to fix it or be gone.
Did Mayo make him pass a run test like Bill used to do?

Assuming Vrabel does something like that too let's at least wait to see how that goes before making any proclamations.

He’s never thrown 5 INT’s in a playoff game.

for some reason I thought he did 5 against Denver but I stand corrected on the specifics, but not the point I was trying to make. Brady has thrown 3 picks in a playoff game FOUR times according to statemuse. The point being throwing a few picks in a shorts and T-shirt practices ISN'T newsworthy, let alone headline news like it's being portrayed.

Practice is the perfect time to try and make throws you might not make during a game. Just think of all throws in a game where the QB makes successful throws to receivers that make you think, "how did he get that ball in there. He had 2 inches clearance".

There are literally dozens of completions each game with throws like that just get by a DB's grasp or clear a DL's or LB's outstretched hands by less than inch. I don't think we appreciate both the skill of the QB and receivers, AND the DB's and LB's enough

Onwenu getting a bag and then basically living like a retired truck driver ever since is a serious problem.

He played over 1,000 snaps last year while alternating between tackle guard (next to a makeshift center). Very good pass blocking grade by PFF. Run grade not as good - but then maybe he wasn't a fit for last year's attempt at a system where literally nobody had a good grade.

Thanks. You are correct. Bryant might beat out Wallace

I doubt Bryant can be a swing tackle, the word in the run up to the draft was that the reason Membou didn’t play left tackle for Missouri was because Bryant couldn’t play RT.

Yep. I’m giving Onwenu a pass on last season because the entire OL was a **** show. He will still have to prove himself throughout the 25’ season, I just won’t judge him on 24’. They should just put him at RG and leave him there.

Orr…maybe he was 40 lbs overweight?

Possible but I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt because we need him and because I'm not smart enough to determine how much of last year's problems were due to his being overweight or the other 4 linemen just being garbage.

I think there was a huge lack of commitment by players heading into last season. I don’t believe Mayo ever had them motivated to give their best in the offseason before last season. I think they knew he was a pushover and weren’t worried about getting released because they didn’t want to be here anyways.

Yes. He has Type 1 diabetes.
My daughter and granddaughter have Type 1 diabetes
It is not a problem playing sports
Many athletes have it
Justin Fields and Vince Wilfork are 2 off the top of my head
Brown probably got undrafted because he got kicked off Wisconsin’s team
My guess is he is a hothead

Yeah I think some of that started the Patricia year. 3 years in a row we scape goated coaches basically OKing this behavior (let's avoid debating whether it was right and who to blame). Vrabel needs to fix it and he seems like the right combo of hard ass and players coach to do just that.

I agree, and I think Vrabel has turned that around. Anyone who thinks they can come into camp out of shape, and not ready to compete for their position will be in for a rude awakening.

You could be right. I am not sure about Bryant. If Bryant can be a LT backup, and Wallace can be a RT backup (Wallace was poor last year at LT even though someone not to be mentioned assured us that Wallace could switch to LT), then we have the tackle backups. Moses is older and has not played a full season in awhile so we need a RT backup (Wallace) urgently.

If that's what's going on I'd expect Vrabel will handle it but I'm also hesitant to call OL fat as I said yesterday that is kind of part of the job.
