Blasphemer
Ten lashes and go reread this thread:
Jete (pron. jeet): 1. formerly Jets, New Jersey-based quasi-professional football team renamed by retired player Tony Richardson during the 2017 National Football League draft.
stank (pron. staynk): 1. a past of stink; 2. condition endemic to the New Jersey Jete, characterized by a mixed odor of burnt hair/used motor oil/rotting swamp flora accompanying feelings of despair and futility from on-field...

Kyles summarizes the bullish view I have.
Also had some tidbits on why Maye should take a forward leap this year.
Some advanced stats last year he was already in the top 10 debate. I expect a great year from Maye.
After five weeks of ineptitude, New England ranked 16th in dropback success rate after Maye took the reins. They were even better from Week 10 on, climbing to 10th.
Maye raised the offense’s subterranean floor with his rare talent, impressive poise, and advanced IQ. After being named a starter, he led the NFL in scramble yards and ranked top 10 in adjusted completion rate under pressure.
Why the Patriots Should Win 10+ Games - CLNS Media
The Texans did it in 2023. The Commanders did it in 2024. Why can't the new-look 2025 Patriots be 2025's meteoric rise?www.clnsmedia.com
Not a nit-pick /contrarian type response, but I just expect a slight improvement in his game. I expect a pretty big improvement in the rest of the team's game. I think the biggest improvement is in the players that surround him and the coaches. Van Pelt did a great job with straightening out his foot work and some mechanical issues that he had AS A 2 YEAR college starter. His offensive game plans and game calls sucked though. With the run game they should have this season, improved receiving options, and MacDaniels and Vrabel coaching Maye hard we should see dramatic improvement in Maye’s game this year.
The jets may be worse than they were last year
I suppose one question is how we will judge the degree to which Maye's "game" will improve.Until they see the Oline play, 8 games seem reasonable. ff

"his game" to me, is better decision making and Ability to read what the defense is doing, and better touch on the throws to the flat when throwing on the move.I suppose one question is how we will judge the degree to which Maye's "game" will improve.
I expect significant improvements in all measures of the passing game and of the Offense in general. After all, we have significantly better talent at RB, WR, OL and in the coaching staff.
Another way to put that is:I suppose one question is how we will judge the degree to which Maye's "game" will improve.

None of this means that Maye is any better than last year. In addition to the above improvements, Maye SHOULD be somewhat better because he is more experienced in the NFL game than he was last year. The unsaid truth is that the Offense would be better than last year with Dobbs as QB and should be much better with Maye at the helm.
This should all add up to Maye going off this year and offense looking great.
Last year we had so many 3 & outs, fumbles, runs up the middle, penalties - just terrible.Suspect there may be some growing pains but I'd be pleased beyond words if the offense looks 'great' this year.
Hell, after the last couple of years I'm going to be happy just seeing a Pats offense that looks competent

He turned the ball over a lot because he was constantly playing from behind throwing to guys who couldn't get open with no protection whatsoever. It's all going to hinge on Maye. I think he's got talent, but I also think he turned the ball over a lot last year and didn't really win a whole lot of games. If McD can get him to be efficient, not make stupid mistakes and in a place to really take advantage of his strengths and minimize his flaws, 9-10 wins seems possible. If Maye is still a work in progress and is making mistakes playing hero ball, I think 7 wins would be a good showing.
I really don't know what to expect but I hope it's a lot better than what we saw last year.
T Henderson is a home run hitter from the RB position. That makes a Huge Difference; when you have a Player that can take it to the House on one play we have lacked players with that ability for years. IF Kyle Williams live up to his potential at WR happy days are here again. Our Schedule is not Daunting. They aren't winning 13 games, your grace, even with a softer schedule.
IF Our Defense plays lights out we're winning 11 maybe 12 games. We are playing a lot of Teams in QB Transition.I think last years coaching was so bad despite a terribly limited roster they win 6 or 7 games with Vrabel, defiantly win at least 2 of the Seahawks/Titans/Colts games.
Vrabel has made a career of winning close games with a limited roster, i just don't see a world where he lets someone like Anthony Richardson who can barely complete a forward pass drive 80 yards for a TD late in the game.
I think given the massive upgrades in coaching, roster and and easy schedule with 2nd year Drake anything less than 8 is disappointing.
I would agree with the Vegas line anything over 8.5 is a success and a good season, 8 is par and a decent building block for Vrabels 2nd year and under 8 is a disappointing, if we're back picking in the top 10 it's a big fail.
...if we're back picking in the top 10 it's a big fail.
You ignore the base of comparison.Another way to put that is:
- we should see a night & day difference at OL
- we should see a night & day difference at WR
- we should see a notable improvement at RB
- we should see a notable improvement in Maye's awareness
- we should see a notable improvement in coaching & game planning
- we should see the same good production at TE
This should all add up to Maye going off this year and offense looking great.
OL and WR are not “well below average”You ignore the base of comparison.
Moving up from the bottom 3 in coaching, OL, and WR to anywhere near average is a bit much to expect. Our Offense was perhaps #30. #20 would be a very HUGE improvement. I don't expect our passing game to be top 20. It is the running game that could get us to 20 or even a bit higer.
Our OL and WR are still well below average. That they are close to good enough to compete for the playoff is a HUGE improvement.
=========
All that's great. With some health, the Defense and running game might make us competitors for the playoffs, given our very weak schedule (well earned).
I think you can become average or better pretty quick when you add better starters, creating better depth, hire better coaches, and have every bad team in the league on your schedule. You ignore the base of comparison.
