Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

I think calling for Mazzula to be fired if they lose this series is stupid

I said he should be on thin ice -- held to account for culpability in these inexcusable performances. Whether that means getting fired, yeah, the capital he's built up through the last two years probably saves him. But how the team shows up the rest of this run, we'll see.

It was maddening. New York is chipping away and then the Celtics swing the door wide open for them by abandoning the offense and chucking up 3-point bricks. And why was Porzingis on the bench late? Tatum almost saved it with his driving dunk but it shouldn't ever have been that close.
Porziņģis is sick, who knows. Would’ve liked to have seen Kornet have more minutes than Horford tonight though

Hauser has sucked this year. He ain't much of a loss. KP is, but thats more of an issue against a team no named the Kicks.
Hauser did not suck. His numbers aren't that far off from last year

I know he's been sick, all the more reason to spot him strategically. Anyway, "sick" is supposed to go away come playoffs.

I watched plenty of Celtics games this year, and yeah...I never watched many that I said "Wow what a game from Hauser". Nah, his impact was much less this season.

The sky hasn’t fallen (yet.). Series is still about 50/50 in vegas.

Celtics late game problems are inexcusable…exact same stuff I’ve been complaining about for three years on here. Star pecking order > Strategy and Probability. Now two game winning shots in the last two games, both absolute jokes of attempts by Tatum. They have five great players on the court. Inexcusable. And it has really cost them.

Joe has been incredibly disappointing this year
It’s the players. They know how to play the game. Most of these issues were exactly the same under Ime. Joe gets too much credit for success and too much criticism for failure.

Players definitely deserve the most heat, but not sure what was preventing Joe from utitlizing timeouts and making adjustments vs. a largely “play through it” approach that cost them two games of 20+ point leads. Game 1 in particular was especially bad. It would be nice to see a tangible difference from him in those circumstances in-game to reel things in when the players can’t.

Both games went south via over-reliance on three-point shots that weren't dropping, also often hurrying them with no one close to the offensive boards. Don't you think a more deliberate effort to run the offense (especially late with Knicks closing the gap) could have made a difference? That kind of changeup is a coach's decision. Obviously, the regular season and playoffs are different animals.

I did have an odd thought. What IF the Cs are in on a fix? I mean a title team, with two 300 plus million dollar players, the 6th man of the year etc etc somehow can't make a basket for almost 10 minutes and just lose by 1 again. Even the Tatum drive with 24.1 left on the clock made zero sense to me. They couldn't foul so milk the clock down and give them nothing if you make it.

Edit to add it probably isn't even close to true but I just can't fathom that they couldn't make one FG for that long. At home, against the Knicks.

Yeah, it might've helped if they were using up more of the clock on each possession.

Everything you mention here points a finger at poor playoff coaching.

****ing pathetic
I don't I've ever seen anything like this.. 20 point leads at home in back to back play off games.... I know thier still exist a chance they could make this a series.. but the way they are playing I have serious doubts. I believe all the years and wear and tear is catching up to them...

Guys can't hit shots... simply put.. Tatum missing lay ups and high percentage shots... the complete lack of focus allowing a team to come back.. suddenly bridges became Jordan in the 4th quarter..

Everyone has a bad night. When that becomes a trend -- ESPECIALLY in the playoffs -- you look at coaching.

I watched as well. He had a bad back 1/2 the year and 2nd 1/2 was fine.

Your concerns have been realized

You were concerned about being too confident vs the Knicks - check

You were concerned about being unfocused at home - check

You were concerned about KP being healthy - check

I never tried to sound like I was ready say they are done.. but like you RW I've been a fan for basically all my life as a Cs fan.. KP, is a 31 year old talented big man with constant injury or unavailable to his teams over the years. I believe his contract is moved in the off season..

They should have moved him for Vuvajic in Chicago sorry if i misspell his name. It's inexplicable to have 20 point leads to a good Knicks team both games at HOME.. and allow them to beat you. Can you help me to understand??

Muzz did a masterful job during the season managing the team with guys in/out the line up.. to have a league best road record and 61 wins... where is that team at?

As much as I like muzz and believe he's a good coach I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if.. Sam cassell ended up being announced as Cs new head coach this off season..
