When is rookie minicamp

I have seen Rice run a 4.59 to a 4.71. It is not clear exactly what time Rice ran.

Ultimately it didn’t matter, he was one of those rare guys whose speed didn’t matter because he could always get open, and didn’t drop anything.

I agree with that. Quickness and explosion are different than speed. Chism III is very quick, less quick than Edelman but quicker than Welker. Usually people look at broad jump, vertical, 3-cone, and short shuttle to gauge explosion. The 10, 20, and 40 yard dash indicate speed.

Chism has the build and scores to match a very quick slot reciever, but his 40 yard run was surprisingly slow, like all-time low for his body type. So Chism is at the extremes, really quick and really slow. We will see if player can depend solely on quickness in the NFL while being so slow. Edelman, for example, was much quicker and much faster than Chism III, so that comparison is not valid. Comparisons to Welker are valid, so maybe Chism III will be very productive. He is a strong guy so I think he will hold up OK. It is a very interesting skill type.

I also think that some guys are experts at using leverage against opposing defenders, and using body position to create windows for the QB, especially once they are on the same page.

I agree that is part of it too. I think Chism III understands that because of his prolific college career. We will see.

I think 40 times need to be taken with a grain of salt. Straight line running with track shoes and no pads.....its just different. The real difference is how quickly someone can get to that top speed and in and out of their breaks, thats where most of the separation happens. I want to see how this kid operates in practice with real coverage.

They have every position covered for a 11v11 session. Just put Birdow at RG and Minkins at LB and you have a scrimmage.

Yes, Chism III is similar to Amendola so it might work out. But it is Maye throwing the ball not TB12, so it is not simply the WR involved.

One day to rookie minicamp. I know, I know it's just RM however it's the true start to the season and camps start coming hot and heavy after this one. Almost a camp of some kind each month until the month off before TC.

I've never understood why the NFL hasn't always run their 40's in full pads, helmets and all.
It makes zero sense not to.
We have all see seen prospects run blazing 40's and can't get open in the NFL.
