We're such a different team

Pump the breaks. The oline was beyond horrible last year to the point where I'm not going to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see a few games. They didn't even improve from week to week last year. New coaches are all but guaranteed to be better but they still got to show us.

Trey Henderson. Very exciting pick but we have a long history of bringing rookie running backs along very slowly. The great James White did absolutely nothing his rookie year and just sat on the bench and learned.

I expect all of the veteran receiving options like Hunter Henry, Bourne, and Hollins to understand McDaniels' system but the rookies/2nd yr guys are a crap shoot.

I will feel confident once I see us operate a 2 min offense multiple times. I want to see Maye cook the way Jimmy Garrapollo did before he hurt his shoulder the year he filled in during Brady's suspension. A young player in complete control of the offense.

I don't think white was as heralded as Henderson coming out of draft . Not sure if you have seen his tape. He screams talent and playmaker to most of us. He is a fringe first round talent ...

1. Yes, JMD and offense can be more simple / talent friendly, because Brady's years (BB's mindset) didn't value top-shelf offense skill players except for a few (Moss, Dillon, Gronk) so they had to out-scheme to win - that took time & brains. rookies and non-cerebral players couldn't make it.
Can I amend that to, most rookies? Deion Branch and Malcolm Mitchell both came in and earned Brady's trust as rookies.

I’ll probably just ask her if she wants to go get a burger. Start low key, go from there. I don’t like high maintenance.
Dunno if Kay's for you then, that's why Amendola dumped her.

Bet I’m not the only one who would feel better about our QB room if Milton was still in it.

The potential gadget plays alone would have been great.

Pray for Drake’s health, because the Dobbs-led Pats loses a bit in translation.
I wish Milton was still here too.

Too soon to trade him off, but he got into it with the coaches and shot his way out of town. It will be cool.to see what he does on the Cowboys if Dak gets dinged up which is very possible.

And then he moved on to Olivia Culpo, who is ultra high maintenance. Got to give him credit though, he gets great looking girlfriends.

To add a little something to your statement. I feel this team from the minute Vrabel was hired to all the coaching and staff additions to free agency and now the draft this team feels like its moving in the right direction and that is all we can hope for at this point. I did not think we would be at this point today when Mayo got fired, to be honest I am shocked at just how far this organization has gone in a such a short amount of time to fully change direction.

That's not good enough for some posters here, it's 'playoffs or bust' for them.

A more reasonable point of view, IMO. Just one area of weakness (OL is a good place to start) that doesn't come together the way you want/hope it will can mean being on the outside looking in for the playoffs. We have an easier schedule, but so does every other team in our division. We like what we see so far, but so far it's just names and not a team.

Looking at the roster now, does anyone think this team is worse than the 2021 team that made the playoffs?

Of course.

I don't think that we should be considered FAVORED to make the playoffs. However, we have taken giant steps toward being a contender.

Depends on if one can look at a roster months before the season starts and know how good a team is.

The '21 team had a lot of advantages this team doesn't have, such as a veteran coaching staff that had worked together for two decades, a team where most players knew their systems, a league that didn't have film on Mac Jones yet, etc.

If this coaching staff comes together, if they weed out players who can't/won't play within their system, then they have a good chance at being a playoff team.

However that is a lot of "if's" and it may or may not happen.

looking forward to this group on the field:
