DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION Official 2025 Draft Day Thread: Day Two

2025 has been a complete success so far. No wtf picks and they all made sense. It was a tough choice between Wilson and Watts. Either one to me filled the need, maybe Watts a little more. Coincidentally Watts went a pick later. Very torn between those two and both were fantastic value.

105 144 146 starting it out tomorrow. Lets do the reset in the morning and do this again.

Look at the range - ability to work at the line in pass pro, ability to take care of business on the los in run game before reaching the 2nd level and redirecting someone. Reach blocks, combos he's really good at executing a bunch of different blocks. Plus footwork to mirror. Very quick very good hands and feet. Plus balance. Our Oline got a lot more athletic, physical and versatile. He can play guard in a pinch imo. I really like this pick

This kid was UGA's best offensive player against ND in the CFP. I'm ecstatic about this pick.

And let’s take a live look at Drake Maye:

Like the old saying goes - "Never draft an OL who can't fist you into submission."
Completely true. Someday I'll tell you all about my days as a GM drafting O linemen in the NFL.

It's no longer a need but I'm really surprised Dylan Sampson didn't get drafted.

I understand that. Im just saying this must mean they've already made the determination.

But on who?

Jake Andrews for sure. But one or two of Sow, Robinson and Strange are on the outs. Maybe even Caeden Wallace.
Caeden Wallace hasn't really had an opportunity to show what he is. Rookie got hurt and only played a handful of games on a team with terrible coaching.

The Game Day on offense (assuming health)

QB 2 - Maye Dobbs
TE 2 - Hunter Hooper
WR 5 Diggs WILLIAMS Boutte Douglas Hollins
OT 3 CAMPBELL Moses Lowe
OG 3 Owenu Strange Wes
C 2 Bradbury WILSON
RB 3 Stevenson HENDERSON Gibson

That's 20.... So they will probably get 1 more RB to add in to the mix. Guard is the weak link right now.

Top 3 pass catchers of Diggs Williams and Hunter should be serviceable. We have good depth options behind them. And who knows... maybe Polk figures it out and kicks Douglas/Boutte off the game day roster. If they do get another Guard I think it spells the end for Strange... Wes is the 8th guy as he backs it all up. Lowe i think most agree is the 3rd OT.

For Day 3 we have an early 4th, 3x 5th round picks, and 2x 7th round picks.

We can stockpile depth or trade some of that bounty for future picks.

I wonder if we trade Boutte on day 3 or wait and let him compete in camp first?

Absolutely brother. He's going to be a starter for us. Our running game got A LOT better the past two games. A LOT better. He was my 5th graded IOL with a 2nd round grade. So pumped.

Tonights draft just made so much more sense than the last few years, the thing was everyone at the time was saying how dumb not just taking McConkey was, it's ones like that you can't have.

Anyone can draft a bust but the process of constantly think you're smarter than everyone else and it blowing up in your face that had to stop.
That was the problem in the declining years. We just kept making huge draft blunders and reaches. I get it coaches want to take their binkies, but take them in the later rounds where it make sense, not 2-3 rounds early. You just WASTED all the extra capital you got from trading down by taking awful reaches and ended up with worse talent than you should.

Wilson supposedly can play guard.

Kinda doubt they trade Boutte IMO at this stage

If they get offered a 4th, I think they would. But I don't think Boutte has enough value for that kind of offer so the best move is just let him compete in camp and see if he can carve out a niche.

I like the new pecking order of Diggs, Williams *Rookie*, Boutte, Douglas a LOT better than what we had last year!

BTW another guy who could go is Kendrick Bourne. We'll see in camp but he hasn't been tip top since his first year here. Maybe getting even a future pick for him would be better than a June 1st cut.
