I make the distinction because there have been plenty of examples of college left tackles who FAILED at the PRO level and had to get kicked inside to guard. This is not rocket science, this is just historical fact. This is the big question mark with Campbell. Is he just a good college level tackle who can't handle the position at the Pro level?

In your mind it's the big question, based on faulty combine arm measures that every prospect complained about.

Unless you're questioning Vrabel's team's ability to pick the best LT among Campbell, Membou, and Banks, who were all there at 4 and all went in the top 10, then I think it says more about you than them.

While in TEN Vrabel drafted the textbook recent example of a college LT who had to kick inside to guard as a first round pick. He also took another first round OL who is widely regarded as in the discussion for biggest bust of all time.

Your last post reads like you think Vrabel has some stellar track record everyone should trust. He doesn’t. Not saying he wasn’t a good hire, but some on this board act like he’s a deity which is absurd. It’s all based on liking him for his career here. He has a mixed history in the NFL as a coach/personnel guy.

If Campbell pans out at LT great, worth the pick. If we have to move him to guard, this was a big reach. Cole Strange, a guard, should NOT have ever been picked in round 1. And he has done nothing to dispel that assertion.

Cole Strange sucks. Sucks at LT, sucks at guard and probably sucks at center. If Cole Strange was even remotely close to be being as good as Mankins it would not be a waste of pick. He also sucks at staying healthy.

If Campbell is as good as Mankins or Hutchinson at guard I say 4 is just fine by me. But for right now he has my attention as the new starting Left tackle and I’m hoping he makes the detractors eat crow.
