2025 Draft Rumours (ie The Pinch Of Salt Thread)

I guess I am thinking about someone from lower in the draft order trying to move up to #4. I agree they'd take Jeanty in any other year. Still might.
I do like the fact we have no idea what will happen. Last year it was a foregone conclusion who was #3.

Possibly just smoke. But I think someone will offer to move up for whoever lasts until 4. I don't see any of Ward/Jeanty/Hunter/Carter lasting past 5 in any scenario, and someone will want to move up, even for if only a modest trade.

I don't think the Patriots will go from 4 to 10 for a modest trade. I think it will take full value to move off Campbell. 4 to 6? That would be modest as we would likely still get Campbell.

If they think Campbell is the guy just take him at 4 but if they trade down that says they aren't sold he's the best option. Whatever tackle they take in 1st there's going to be some uncertainty that they are going to workout. Simmons obviously is recovering from a serious injury. Membou has never really played LT. Banks like Will is considered to be a guard amongst some experts.

No Simmons in Jeremiah's last mock. Definitely a run on OL though.

Watching Daniel Jeremiah's mock. Here's the 'interesting' picks.

Has Kevin Banks going to the Raiders at 6 ahead of Membou who goes 7
Mykel Williams goes 9 to the Saints.
Grey Zabel to the 49ers at 11.
Jalon Walker falls to the Falcons.
Egbuka and Tet go ahead of Golden. Not by much though. Golden goes 19 to the Bucs.
Ezeiruaku to the Bengals.
Giants trade up to 18 (Seahawks) for Jaxson Dart
Treveyon Henderson to the Chargers at 22
Booker and Donovan Jackson go in the first. Jahdae Barron falls to 29.
Eagles get Jihaad Campbell. Falls because of shoulder injury.

One obvious name missing. Where's Walter Nolen? No way he makes it to day two. No Will Johnson either although that makes more sense.

Edit: Mike Green too.

He's either going to be a genius tomorrow or he'll have some egg on his face.

If
I’m starting to get the impression that Vrabel has his heart set on Campbell and doesn’t want to move down and risk losing him. Maybe to the Raiders at 6 but that’s as far as he’s probably wanting to drop.
If Vrable thinks Campbell can be special at LT then there is no need to get cute and just take him at #4

Yup

If we trade down to 9 or 10, it is because we are not sold on Campbell.

At 9 or 10, we can make our choice among the flawed OT's. But at least we will have an additional draft choice (surely enough to double dip with Ozzy or Grant).

Chris Simms said after he released his mock he got inundated with texts from contacts in front offices around the league saying he's got McMillan wrong. He had him going in the 20's but he said the NFL seems way higher on him and he's been told by lots of people that McMillan will go top 10.

The other common response he got from folk around the league is that Mykel Williams is going to the Saints at 9, Simms had him at 32

Almost true, here's the real offering:

Do it. Do it. Do it now.

Sure sounds like we’re taking Campbell at 4. How would you feel about this? I went by Mel’s Top 150.

2 Mason Taylor - TE - LSU
3 trade up 69 and 4th to 55
Jaylin Noel - WR - Iowa St. Mel has him 56
3 Ozzie Trapilo - T - BC

I don't think we go Offense with the first 4 picks. Runs of WRs & OTs will allow someone of defensive goodness to fall in our laps somewhere in the 2nd or 3rd. I can feel it, and if you close your eyes and pretend you're the opposite of Slick Mel, you can, too.

Yeah, I'm on my 2nd XL coffee.

On Unsportsmanlike it was suggested that the Giants might be more interested in getting Mason Graham in a trade swap with the Jags who would conceivably take Abdul Carter and since we seem to be locked in with Will Campbell the Giants aren't worried about us taking Graham.

This would also give them ammo to trade back up into the end of round 1 for Dart/Shadeur.

Look for Albert Breer to say something about Vrabel's Bro-love for Mason Graham this morning.
