2025 Draft Rumours (ie The Pinch Of Salt Thread)

I think the Patriots will keep looking for ways to build up their war chest of draft picks, maybe even with a trade of a veteran like receiver Kayshon Boutte.

I laughed out loud at this quote. Classic Breer. Trading Boutte, a true veteran - LOL, is going to solidify the Pats' draft pick war chest - LOL.

Hey we're without a 6th! It'd be very valuable to add one!

In all seriousness, yeah, that doesn't make sense. While I think Boutte's upside is limited, so are most picks in the 6th or 7th, which is all were going to get. As lacking as the WR Corp is, I'd rather let a guy who's at least had some success come in and battle for a spot, pushing himself and others. I'd rather let camp dictate who makes the roster. Might have more teams willing to give up a 6 after injuries in camp, etc. If he's cut, he's cut. The acquired pick has a high likelihood of being cut as well.

I suspect that's why there is a lot more uncertainty with this draft. If you know who the top 8-10 picks will be it ruins some of the excitement.

Who knows, maybe the Titans will surprise everyone and take Hunter over Cam Ward. Imagine the excitement if the assumed 1st pick didn't even happen as planned.

Just reading between the lines here, the Bears or Raiders are trading up with the Giants for Jeanty.

1. Schefter says the Browns have committed too Hunter.
2. Lots of rumours of teams wanting Jeanty.
3. Giants trading down would make drafting Sanders more palatable.

4. One other thought which is probably unrealistic but would certainly qualify as a blockbuster. Cowboys trade Micah Parsons to us for the 4th pick. I originally thought about them doing that trade with the Giants but there's no way they trade Parsons in division. Jerry Jones did say they're working on a couple of trades.

I think the Giants are split on Shadeur and Dart.

The Giants could very well trade down 10 spots and then draft Sanders or Dart.

I suppose that the writer thinks that it is 98% that CLE takes Hunter. I suspect that he should wait until CLE decides whether to take any of the deals offered to them.

Yup. from what I've seen on twitter, the coaching staff want Dart and the FO want Shedeur.
Personally, if Im the Giants, I just got for Milroe in the 2nd. Daboll has had success with a "raw" athlete in Allen. Russ gives Milroe a minute to sit and learn. And by not taking a QB at 3 or by giving up so much capital to move back into the 1st, they limit the impact a bust QB has on them. But there upside is a QB for 3 years on a 2nd round contract(assuming he starts in year 2). If you're not sold and a better QB is available next year, you didn't invest so much in Milroe that you have to compound the mistake by passing on another talent.

I like Dart more, but it all depends on what the cost is to move back up.

They need someone to contribute in ‘25 because jobs are on the line. I’m not sure Milroe is ready for that.

I saw the Giants were considering Jeanty at 3 and Milroe at 34 so they have a combo running attack with a little passing. Maybe not a SB winning strategy, but fun for the fans while Milroe learns.

Thats what Russ is for. Hes not a difference maker but hes an upgrade from last year. I know if it falls apart Daboll is gone, but I don't think Shedeur or Dart are going to do any better than Russ would. They'll turn it over a lot more than Russ, and Daboll would still he fired.

Milroe and Jeanty on the improved Giants might get them from 3 -- 14 to 7 - 10, and save jobs. Run and gun that Daboll likes (see Josh Allen).

you know who I'd take if I needed someone to start week 1.
