Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Memphis ended the season with a thud, not a bang. If they turn it around, that would be impressive. When the Celts played them only 3 weeks ago, they didn't look to be a good team.
OKC is coming out the west. We will face Cleveland in ECF..

That Memphis thud was in full play in the first game against OKC. Losing by 51 is pretty embarrassing.

First half stat that stands out:

Minutes
Holiday 14
Pritchard 7

Orlando has a great defense but they’re mostly big, bullying guys. Pritchard’s quickness gives them problems. I don’t think Holiday’s defense / intangibles are worth the tradeoff. At the least, their minutes should be about equal.

That's what stands out? How about 3-12 shooting for 6 points for their leading scorer? That's what stands out to me. Or maybe the fact that only 3 C's had a positive +/- in that lousy 1st half?

Yeah but they more than made up for it in the 2nd half and wound up with a dominating win.
Their defensive intensity was awesome after halftime. And every single player was ferocious on D.
DWhite being DWhite.
@Ice_Ice_Brady mentioned giving more pt to PP over Jrue, but both those guys played a ton in the 2nd half and both were awesome.
On the negative side, JB's knee still doesn't look right. Its affecting his lateral movement, explosiveness and jumping.
He's just not the same player right now.
C's are really gonna need him vs. both Cavs and OKC so I expect Joe will play him sparingly in these early series once the C's get up 2-0 or 3-1.

I just wanted to say I really really really hope Pritchard wins 6th man.

What a gritty gutsy win. Orland is a young team with size that play hard. I like their mentality the way they play with they will be a problem going forward. However our top dogs were off with the shot but big time D white and Jrue picked up the slack. PP off the bench was vital.

The week plus off is always beneficial to players especially JB.. but it also gets guys out of rhythm. JT shot was off wich I kinda expected first playoff game. I've said this plenty that this is going to be a tough playoffs this year. A physical team like the magic will wear on us. KP was rusty as well. Jrue, PP and big time D. White carried us.

What the hell was up with the announcers yesterday when discussing the flagrant foul on Tatum? Every single one of them said something along the lines of, "There's really nothing there to indicate any follow through act," while showing replay after replay of Caldwell-Pope grabbing Tatum's arm and pulling him down. That action caused Tatum to crash to the floor. It was obviously a flagrant foul. This picture shows the beginning of the pull-down. Caldwell-Pope kept on pulling him down after the initial grab.

Yea I don't know WTF they were looking at.

This is the only way Orlando can stay with us.

At any rate, this now requires us to get a little physical with Paolo or Franz.

I see you’ve been introduced to Doris Burke.

Johnny was awesome. Like most C's fans, when they were on tv we always muted tge tv audio and listened to Johnny on the radio. He was the best.
I think Johnny was one of the first to be an outright homer and it was great. His voice was awesome too.

There's a difference between todays players and those from the 80's back. You could see it when JoJo played 63 of 66 minutes in the Phoenix OT game or players like Bird or Hondo who could go hard for a whole game. Today's players are softer, like the rest of society.

Sports announcers are so bad now that I put the volume down so I can't hear what they're saying. It works pretty well.

What a game. They were up 20 in the 1st, 30 in the 2nd, 40 in the 3rd and 50 in the 4th. They could have won by 60. Maybe Minny can give them some trouble.
