2025 Draft Rumours (ie The Pinch Of Salt Thread)

Simmons is very good. He also has a significant knee injury with no certain timeline for recovery.
With no certain timeline for recovery that we are aware of. The medical report on Simmons is critical and we do get to see it.

Yes but we likely need to double dip at LT regardless of who we take early. There's just no sure thing sadly.
I don’t agree I’m afraid. Draft Will Campbell, run him out at LT next year and if he doesn’t work out, we have a top LG and we can try and draft someone better in, hopefully, a better LT class next year. I see that as a potential win-win. If Campbell does work out, we haven’t wasted a top 100 pick on a backup. However, I’m all for drafting Trapilo who can swing tackle this year and be a future starting RT.

The Giants punted on Nix, Penix, and McCarthy last year to pick Nabers. Nabers is a talent but passing on a low cost franchise QB two years in a row is a strategy of idiots.

I have been saying this for weeks. No change here. The Giants will pick Sanders. Bakes says, "Can it be a reality?" It always has been a reality. The Giants will not pick Nabers and Hunter, OR Nabers and Carter, and ignore the QB position two years in a row.
Its kinda funny, at least in my combined ratings I would have Sanders between Nix and Penix and closer to where I had Nix than Penix. Sanders does not feel like a top 3 pick, but next year currently does not feel like a good QB class either. So maybe they are looking at this as being the best chance to get a promising-ish rook QB.

Is there a character knock on Membou?
According to McShay? Yes.

He didn't provide any level of detail, he just said that he was told by NFL teams other than Campbell and Banks, ALL of the top OTs in this draft had some sort of character red flag.

I also heard it noted that the Giants passed on Josh Allen to take Barkley. So there is a history of not selecting a QB. Mara must be losing patience of not selecting a QB over the last 5 or 6 years.

I didn't realize that, thanks for the info.

Again give me Mike Green. The most productive edge rusher.

As a player, I'd be fine with Green. Before the character stuff popped up, he looked like he was pushing top 10. I think there's enough there to take him out of 4, though. In a trade down to say, 11? Makes more sense.

I'd assume the pass rusher would be Jalon Walker, if it has to be one at 4.

If that's the case, they better have trades lined up or they better be damn sure Ersery or Trapilo can be the LT day 1.

Pauline is hit and miss at best. But it doesn’t take a genius to work out from their pre-draft visits and the other top players available in the draft that a pass rusher will be the focus if they don’t go OT at 4. I hadn’t heard anywhere else that we were interested in Garrett or Crosby. Seems unlikely given the draft capital required to acquire them.

Yeah but there hasn't been anything about his character to come out since. Therefore I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I believe Ersery can be.

I agree with you on Ersery.

Re: Green. Maybe it hasn't come out, but you're still seeing guys like McShay and Jeremiah and Kiper mock him in the back end of round 1. Not that they know everything but they hear more than we do. I think that says something. He doesn't even appear to be in discussion much for the Panthers at 8, even when Walker is mocked higher.

You're not the only one that thinks Walker at #4, but I don't see the bread crumbs to get there. Besides media speculation, have they other ties to this player?

I'd say pretty much everything is media speculation at this point. At a school like Georgia, with so many talented players, every team is well versed on their prospects.

I only say it because Walker appears to be the higher ranked guy on everyone's board. Various podcasts have talked about Walker being a realistic possibility, and maybe the best pick, for the Jags at 5. And as far as the Patriots go, with Vrabel/Belichick background, people think he would like and be able to use a versatile piece. But thats just my speculation.

I am interested to see if they draft a player they haven't met with.

I'm sure they've talked with pretty much everyone at some point. We don't hear about scouting during the college season very often. They have access at the combine that we don't always hear about. Id say it happens pretty regularly you draft guys you didn't have public meetings with.

I did a quick google. In the pre-draft meetings last year, they met with Wallace, Baker, Bell, Maye and Milton. The previous season under Bill, the only pre-draft meeting player they took was UDFA Malik Cunningham. so, they relied on it last year but nearly not at all the year prior.

Just interesting is all.

The Shadeur drop could go beyond round 1 lol

What happened to this guy ? I hope he comes to the NFL and kills it. This is incredible how he went from the 2nd best QB to god knows what.

Granted, the kid is shooting himself in the foot with these interviews.

The website kept freezing on me when I tried to close their blasted pop up to subscribe for updates, but it is silly season. I thought he’s been pretty well spoken in interviews, no?

Yeah, by all accounts had a great pro day too. Always helps when you have the best tracker in college shagging balls for you though.
