I seem to remember that Josh McDaniels had some awful draft picks and trades when he was HC for the Broncos and Raiders, but I am little fuzzy on the details. But he did squander a first round pick on Tim Tebow.

Also, according to an ESPN editorial, "McDaniels traded a future first-round pick to the Seahawks for a second-round selection and used it on defensive back Alphonso Smith, who lasted one season with the team." Seattle turned around and used the pick to select Pro Bowler Earl Thomas. So yes, I think that McDaniels (along with any Krafts) should be locked out of the draft room next week.

I always used to think that McDaniels was the little voice in BBs ear giving him bad draft advice, but it is pretty clear that BB could make awful picks on his own. So bad that half of the posters on this forum could have done a better job than BB, at least at WR.

I have a hard time imagining McD would have any influence on the overall roster. I'm sure he'll be allowed to offer opinions on offensive positions but nothing more.
Sadly, almost anyone following a consensus board could have drafted better than BB if given a little guidance on scheme fit.

This is another Felgerific post

He's part of the team... If you are going to shut him out, why hire him at all?

Freddy,

If anything JM should be locked in the draft room not out! The time away from football he had I believe has rejuvenated him. Also this isn't the BB offense he's running this is he and Vrabel's offense.

McDaniels IMO is the best thing for Drake and his career . I have so much faith and confidence in where are going now than I've had the past 5 years.

He’s unnecessary on draft day… but lock Wolf out.
Avp was in the draft room last season... he admitted he couldn't call everything on his play sheet.. IDK about you wozzy but I want all the champions I can get in my draft room if I'm an owner.

And AVP was somehow in the draft room last season.. who admitted he couldn't call everything on his own play sheet... but let's lock out the championship OC..

You’re not learning anything new about prospects on draft day, either you did your homework or not. Fewer voices and less noise is better.

And he made terrible personnel decisions with the Broncos and Raiders… horrible.

JMD...had a top 10 scoring offense with this guy.

This has been Fred’s mantra since forever. He ALWAYS claimed McDaniels had been the reason for bad draft choices. I’m just shocked it took this long for him to post this.

Not sure what his agenda is, maybe McDaniels was mean to him once ?

Which has nothing to do with personnel decisions… and also why I suggested locking Wolf out of the draft room.
Oh I'm with you on the dark knight, we have enough to support a young QB.. Wolf in a GMs clothing...

Yep. The homework is done. They know who they want and who they don’t. Don’t overthink things on draft day. I think Vrabel is going to be very good on the draft aspect of team building. Just a hunch.
