Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

Remember I said prospect. Mainly because of his physicals attributes. Nothing more and I am familiar with Michal Bishop.
He's a 6th round pick. I'd go with longshot project more than prospect imo

It feels like the Patriots shipped out Milton to avoid QB controversy. Because they could have gotten more than a 5th but shipped him to Dallas for a lesser compensation so he would be happy where he ended up.

He was costing us nothing.

You still need to have 3 qbs...

Dobbs stinks on ice.

When Maye goes down and we have Dobbs running our offense...

This could be a long season...

At least Milton had a silver lining of "could be great".

I have no faith in Dobbs. I'm a u of tn fan as well... ( and respect Dobbs) I'm telling you guys... this trade was stupid. Whether it was doing a "solid" for Milton... or just making sure Maye didn't get his feelings hurt.

Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.

Still, it’s better for Vrabel to follow Jerod Mayo rather than BB, just like it is better that Drake Maye is following Mac Jones rather than Tom Brady.

Both situations don’t leave them being compared to legends.
They will ALWAYS be compared by fans & sportswriters regardless of when hired. That is the franchise legacy-history. They have to be man enough to deal with it.
What is important is they aren’t compared to legends by the players themselves or owners.
Having even the 1-year break gets you out of the „Well, we always did it this way; so I’m not changing. „ trap.

Vrabel is trying to set a culture. Can’t have the backup QB squabbling about an open QB competition. Vrabel made the right call.
Not even the backup QB. The 3rd string QB

Breer said that the Cowboys offer was the only offer they got.

AVP who worked with Milton for a year is now working for the Rams. The Rams have an aging QB and 4 6th round pick and they didn’t even made an offer. If Milton was so great it would have made the most sense in the world for AVP to advocate for him and get him to LA

Could be great but odds are much better that he won't pan out in the league.

I don't think Maye cares that much whether Milton is on the team or not. The team didn't see him as competition for Maye nor should they. Milton is a 25 year old project, nothing more right now. Most projects don't pan out and probably even less at that age.

A very vocal minority of Pats fans rate Milton much higher than the NFL does and it shows.

That's just talk radio speculation. They shipped out Milton because he is the #3 QB and he wanted to start but the team did not think he was good enough to beat Maye for his job. That's the only reason they would keep him.

Lost in this is that Milton in 26 years old, and spent SIX years in college. He has a clock in his head to get paid. He also has always struggled with touch…like, he’ll throw 101 mph to a guy 6 yards away.

$100 bucks says they get either ewers or Leonard in the draft and are just fine a backup qb.

Having a backup QB that doesn’t know his place is a real problem. If Milton had a chance earlier in the season, he’d have a case as Maye was struggling badly to win games. But going around thinking you should be starting after beating 3rd stringers and a team already looking forward to getting on the plane is a problem floating under the radar here. This is one of the reasons he’s gone.

Right. "Scattershot accuracy" is not a flattering way to describe a QB in their pre-draft scouting report like Milton was.

I really don't understand why Vrabes didn't have Tavai talk some sense into him.

What a waste.

If he doesn't have "touch" after 6 years of college, when the heck will he acquire it? He is an athlete, certainly, but he probably will never be a good QB.

Milton isn’t the backup QB. He is the 3rd Qb. Which makes it even worse

Self-awareness and how it applies to his work status seems to be an ongoing challenge with Milton.

Not sure setting your goals high and aspiring to a competition for the starting job is bad.
He never had a fair chance to compete for starting job
