No. I disagree. As Tony Montana from Scarface would say....Revengay.....Front office and fans was pissed he won the game last year. Wrong guy to blame. All Mayo had to do was call all run plays, he didn't, he gone. My eyes don't lie. That kid showed promise and yes I admit it, it was fun to watch offense .
I'm not sure what you disagree with?

You think they traded him because he chose not to throw the game?

Wanting to start isn’t the issue. Every player wants to start. The issue is him thinking he’s already shown enough that he can skip the line, when in reality he hasn’t. He couldn’t beat out Brissett last year and he still needed to show he could beat out Dobbs before he could beat out Maye. Also Maye is not some veteran with a lot of years of experience and declining performance. He is the 2024 3rd overall pick who looked pretty damn good considering the trash oline in front of him. He’s 22 years old, let’s give the guy time to develop and show what he is before we’re ready to toss him out for the next binky. Maye earned his spot as the starter. Milton hadn’t earned anything more than 3rd on the depth chart up to this point, and now he’s earned his way out of here. Trust me, he won’t be missed.

Dude, they paid Brissett, van pelts boy, 10 million dollars a year. No shot for Milton..0 dumpster fire choice.

There’s more to the story than this. What he did week 18 is your answer. Had he done this earlier in the season, he stays.
I actually feel like the team thought they were going to lose and get the first overall by actually playing Milton.. Milton had other plans against the bills practice squad roster.

My thoughts are that Van Pelt didn't Want...want to give him an opportunity in respect of Brissett. Milton's like dam, I can play better, faster, a harder thrower and can make plays but I got this stiff in front of me... F.it, I'll show em I can play, it's a non starter game but I'm out here. I gotta do me and he did. Ruffled management, shot his way put of town maybe but he's playing for survival.

I'm not mad they shipped him, it's the why that's bugging me. Front office, dead silent, Vrabel? Elliot, anything other than it's best for the team...yeah...run that up the flagpole...
I’d have no problem if guys were wide open and Milton threw the passes from the pocket. What bothers me and probably the front office, is that he was way too aggressive playing “hero ball” by running out of the pocket and finding guys downfield on broken plays. A plot twist would be if run plays were called but Milton audibled out of it.

Bledsoe was the highest paid QB in the NFL in 2001. That didn’t get him his job back. Bledsoe had already been declining performance wise, and the offense looked better under Brady. Bledsoe’s injury gave Belichick an opportunity to see what he had in Brady, and he saw enough to move forward with him when Bledsoe was healthy enough to return.

Also Brissett was paid $8 million and that’s because he’s an experienced veteran and someone Maye could learn from, but also because he was the meat shield for the beginning of the season. Brissett was here to take a beating while the oline got sorted out. But it never did get sorted and Maye eventually was put in anyway. If Milton showed enough in practice he’d have replaced Brissett at some point as the gameday active backup. It didn’t happen until Week 18, and only because it was the last chance of the season to see what they have in Milton.

I still remember a small number of Pats fans crying about Zappe getting cut because they wanted Maye to begin the season as the third string and have him redshirt the entire season. “He’s gonna get killed out there”. I’m grateful every day that this organization doesn’t react based on what our fans say on these forums because goodness gracious if they did. And I’m including myself because I wanted David Terrell over Richard Seymour like many other Pats fans did at the time. Collectively we know less about what’s right for this team than we want to believe.

They actually did cave in and started Maye because they were called out by media. We all saw Maye outplayed Brissett in the preseason. Mayo agreed and then walked it back. After a few weeks of Brissett, they had no choice which I predicted the day Brissett was signed.

If BB had listened to the consensus on this board who to draft 2019-2024, Pats would be competing for a Super Bowl this year.
Lamar Jackson would be our qb and Mcconkey would be our WR1 and our shut down CB would be trent mcduffie
I will not even list all the losers that we would not have drafted
Even a casual fan would have done much better than the genius
We would also have George Kittle and AJ Brown instead of AsiAsi and Nkeal Harry

Rookie HC feeling the heat of a 4-game losing streak. It was easy to see a move coming. I figured he’d wait until November to make the switch. I doubt it that fan pressure was the main reason for it but if it was then that just goes to show Mayo wasn’t cut out for the job. Based on training camp and preseason Maye should’ve started since Week 1 but that’s another story, and I at least get why the Pats didn’t want to toss Maye into the fire right away.

I think the Brissett ship sailed after week 5.. he clearly was beat up by the terrible OL play.. I like Milton.. but it was never going to happen here for him.. and that's ok.. some you have to, go, to grow. The team was likely thinking that Joe would show some flash plays.. but they would ultimately loose.. but then again if they really and truly wanted to lose then Brissett would have played. I think Mayo knew he was fired before the game or by halftime.

Sam.. Devin asiasi and Dalton Keene were day 1 bust.. they never show anything close to NFL caliber talent at TE.. I'm with you on Jackson and Mconke.. mcduffie is a good player but he's not an all pro IMO.. all pro CBs lock guys up and take then away.. like gonzo does.

Probably the best thing mayo could have done was starting Drake.. if Drake never played last season.. we don't get diggs and Probably never get Vrabel either as he said himself Drake was a huge draw to him coming back... I can't fathom the thoughts of 17 games of Brissett.

Thing some people are overlooking with Milton is his age. This isn’t some really young developmental prospect with lots of projectable growth potential. This is a 6-year college QB going into his age 25 season, an age where many NFL QBs would be going into their 3rd-4th season in the league.

Milton was blocked by a better, more talented QB here in New England. He’ll be 28 by the time he hits free agency. There’s not much of a market for unproven 28-year-old QBs in the NFL. He went into business for himself and forced his way out and to the Cowboys, which could turn out to be the best thing for him.
