Patriots Player Departure BREAKING: Joe Milton traded to Dallas

No reason to trade him.
Blaming Skippy for this one

There were plenty of reasons to trade him. I love Bazooka Joe. I watched him at Michigan and Tennessee, all six years of his college career. He is a pure athlete through and through. When he won, he won with is arm and feet. He did not win with his brain. He is not a cerebral QB. He is an athlete. In order to run Josh's offensive system, he needs a bigger brain than an arm. That is just not Joe. He can handle the West Coast, but not the EP. He was a 6th round pick who was going to be cut with 0% return. They took a 5th and gave up a 7th so they recovered a lottery ticket with a 5%-10% chance of hitting something worth drafting.

Remember when BB let Larry Whigham go because he didn't want Tebucky Jones to feel threatened at S going into 2001? I didn't believe that story, but apparently it's true. Whigham was my favorite special teams and nickel/dime player.

I bet you think you are the best coach out there.
I bet you are full of crap. I hate coaching offense and went back to defense. I don't even claim to be a good coach let alone the best. I just enjoy helping high school and college students learn the game.

To add onto this, even if they run a modified EP the pass protection is usually on the QB. The play is called but based on presnap reads the QB will change protections if need be and Milton has not shown to be that guy.

Given Daks injury history it could happen.
An injury can happen anywhere at anytime.

Yes if the starter gets injured he may see action, but Milton will not be a starter in Dallas. He will not be competing for the starting job.

When Dak gets injured again this season it will likely be his last in Dallas.

Similar to Army, Navy and Georgia Tech? Do you run much play action? very good deceptive offense, what age group are you working with?

Similar to Army, but much more simplified. I coached offense for the last 2 years, but I am going back to defense, which I have done for 6 years. I have worked with high school jv and varsity. For the upcoming season I will be working under JUCO trying to coach them up for D1,2,3.

Yes, we used play action. At these levels, the QB doesn't need the biggest arm, but he has to be a good runner who can hit the open man in play action. The flexbone is a run heavy offense so play action opens things up.

28 games missed since 2019 for Dak.. I wouldn't be so certain...
I think it's similar to Brissett's career. He started as a backup. He went to a place to be a backup. He was ok. They gave him a chance to start. He wasn't very good. He went back to being a backup. Repeat.

Milton has a chance to compete, but it's very, very unlikely that he turns into a franchise QB for Dallas or anywhere else. But if he makes it, great for him.

Position coach on defense or DC? I love the Xs and Os of the game, but my biggest passion is film breakdown and position eval. I am just super intrigued about others football journeys.

Again, they can package that 5th rounder to move up.

Milton wasn't a Vrabel draft pick. McDaniels wasn't here. It was different regime. This happens all the time. Players acquired by one regime are let go in the next regime.
I don't understand the evaluation process. None of last year's offensive coaches are still here and OTA's haven't started yet, so how did they determine he wasn't a fit?

What I meant was he is not competing for the starting job. Dak may get injured, and Milton may start some games, but Milton will not be the starter in Dallas.

That's a 9-figure dead cap number, so I can't see that happening.

You are absolutely insufferable and hilarious. Its like you are telling your mechanic to change out the blinker fluid because you know there is a clunking noise in the spare tire. You truly have no idea what the base concepts are for EP. I already stated multiple times Josh is tweaking the system. Every year, JOSH TWEAKS THE SYSTEM. This is not new. He took a year out of football, learned new concepts, and is putting them into the EP system. The system didn't change. The equivalent of what you are saying is that Josh speaks English. In his year off he learned some language concepts from German and now uses a few words and phrases from German. According to you, Josh now speaks German. No, He still speaks English. Go back to Web MD.
Let's recap.

You are refuting direct quotes from Josh McDaniels in which he says he is incorporating different terminology and plays from other systems and the EP system as we knew has morphed into something else.

That goes against everything you have claimed and said.

You are wrong. Own it.

I have been accurate in everything I have said. I have direct quotes from Josh to prove it.

No other posters are debating me. Just you.

It's lonely dying on a hill. Join the rest of the living in the modern world.

I will be the DC this upcoming year. I think ive done pretty much every position. At this level you just have to. We don't have the luxury of many coaches.

Let's recap. You are fake news and have know idea what EP actually is. I have not refuted Josh's quotes. You just don't get the context of what he is saying because you don't understand the system. Your posts are stupid.

@RobertWeathers is one of the most even keeled posters here. He understands what EP is, the system, the context, all of it. Josh has said he's running a hybrid system. Let's just stop.

The notion that Milton has to go because his entirely predictable and actually laudable aspiration to start one day (here or elsewhere) might hurt Drake's feelings is the most asinine rationale I have heard for any of this team's many utterly stupid moves since the Krafts made the hopelessly foolish decision to hire Mayo because the old man found him a charming travel companion. A new coach, it seems, may well not be enough after all to get this team to remove its head from its ass, where it has been firmly stuffed for years now. I hope Milton does great, both for his sake, and as - maybe, finally - a wake up call for this crap organization.
