Nope. I like Warren as a prospect, but realistically how many TEs in the history of the league have been worth the 4th overall pick even after the fact. And that is when you knew FOR A FACT they would be that good. Keep in mind TE by its nature is not typically as impactful of a position as a top WR unless you are an absolute game breaker.
Here's my list.
Kelce
Gronk
Gonzo
Sharpe
Casper (for his time for sure)
Winslow (particularly if he stayed healthy)
Then maybe..
Witten (his best years came after his rookie contract was up)
Gates (for all the love he gets, he only got over 1K yards twice in a pretty pass friendly era... is that worth the 4th pick? I would argue maybe not)
Newsome (Was fairly dominant in his era... but enough for the 4th pick? IDK.)
REALLY stop and think about how many TEs you'd trade the 4th overall pick for. How many in history have there been? And then remember those are players that you 100% know their worth. How sure are you Warren will be as good as the least of them? What are the odds he will be worth that pick?
Personally I wouldn't pick a TE in the top 10 unless it was a generational prospect at the position... and even then not in the top 5... You're more likely to recoup your value in the top 5 pick by picking a WR as far as an offensive weapon goes
As for Warren, I like him... Even if the Pats trade down... I don't want to pick him in the top 10. Top 15... now we're talking. And if worse comes to worse and the Pats can't trade down for any worth while value, i'd take McMillian. He isn't a perfect prospect, but he has good meassurables, good tape and seems the most likely of anyone else IMO to have enough value to recoup our pick value. And he fills a need.
