It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Vrabel is building a culture he has a plan and vision for the kind of men he wants.Vrabel is a true General, a true leader. He knows what kind of team he wants to build. Really didn’t gleam to much from the interview, but I liked his answers. Would’ve liked to have heard a question about the draft, but Chris Long, though likable, isn’t a reporter or interviewer, he’s a vlogger.
Man…In retrospect, I knew that FIRST press conference with Mayo that something was off in my gut. I felt it.
Such a drastic difference with Vrabes…the opposite.
Dude oozes competence.
BB had three guys for every two positions so no matter what the other team threw at you, he had an extra guy for the change. Sounds like Vrable wants to build the team like that.Three things that stood out to me
He is highly respected and liked. That will attract players
He is going to build a deep team. He said BB had every position with deep talent where they were pushing each other
Every person that has talked about Mack Hollins loves the guy. I’m looking forward to see what it is all about

Vrabel has a vision and understands how every position and coach works to make it a reality. Mayo could name the positions.Mayo came across as performative like he was playing a role as the anti-Bill and wanted to be liked and everyone's best friend. Optics and approval ratings were super important to him.
Vrabel doesn't give a **** about that stuff.
I think Vrabel needs to show success pretty quickly. It's clear that what allowed Bill to have so much control was that he won those Super Bowls pretty early on.Agree with everything above, Vrabel has a vision, knows what he wants. Right or wrong there will be no doubt who made the decision or who is in charge.
Last year we had collaboration, Mayo couldn’t answer when asked who decided when Drake Maye would play… which meant it was being decided from up above. If that was true at QB it was true at all positions… which explains why we saw Polk, Wallace, Robison and others even though they were stinking up the joint.
Jonathan should sign the checks and give the experts what they need to succeed. Jerry Jones is a failure as a GM, the league doesn’t need another Jerry Jones.
This was a great little interview. I cringed last year listen to some of the things Mayo said, call me a homer but I think Coach V just says all the right things.
I certainly agree Vrabel needs to show competence. Mayo got fired because he showed incompetence, always sticking his foot in his mouth, always making questionable decisions.I think Vrabel needs to show success pretty quickly. It's clear that what allowed Bill to have so much control was that he won those Super Bowls pretty early on.
If you look around the league, you see owners like Jed York, etc., who pull back on the spending strings if the coach/GM doesn't have enough juice to overrule them.
I agree the similarities are present. It’s very interesting to me how Vrabel is somehow so much like BB and yet is also very different. It seems like he has many of the core focus points in lockstep with how Bill would be, but is also seemingly much more relatable and affable with the average player. He might even be, dare I say, a bigger A-hole?
Just a long way of saying - I love it
Agree but if you combine his playing experience catching passes, blocking, DE, OLB, MLB, coaching, and playing for Bill and other very good coaches i'd put him at the 90th percentile of a combination of real world and learned experience.Vrabel probably will never quite have the same level of knowledge of technique at every position like Bill has but most coaches have their areas of expertise.
Yea he really has vanished. As I predicted, it’s not shocking Mayo is nowhere to be found after getting fired after one season. That press conference he had last offseason was embarrassing and only put pressure on him to win more than 4 which he couldn’t. The media hyping him up when he was a LB coach I knew was complete ********. I’d be shocked if he ever resurfaces in the NFL he’s so bad.
On the other hand, Vrabel has already had some success as a HC. The confidence level to fans and media is night and day above Mayo.
Interesting how he obviously is not trying to "copy" Bill yet the similarities are there. Versus other guys who did try to copy Bill and failed. I think there difference probably comes down to being actually coached by Bill for years, as opposed to simply being another coach working alongside Bill. You likely absorb it differently when the lesson is being taught to you to go execute yourself.I agree the similarities are present.
Vrabel is a little more personable.
I think his having played is obviously something Bill didn't have that gives Vrabel credit. Bill had to earn that in NYG and his one year stint in 96 went a long way with the core that was still there in 2000 and 01. Then the ring just gave credit to everything and that boulder didn't stop rolling for 18 years.
Vrabel needs his Brady so Maye needs to get better.
Vrabel probably will never quite have the same level of knowledge of technique at every position like Bill has but most coaches have their areas of expertise.
It certainly seems like he grew up under Bill and knows exactly what he wants to copy from him but also has his own personality and his time spent outside New England gives him added perspective.
