Stefon Diggs visiting Patriots

Josh's Offense wasn't kind to Rookie WR's Twin.
Your right twin.. Josh said he was morphing the offense to Drake and the players he has.. no more brady offense twin..

Thats the problem. A few pages ago in this thread, you say Diggs left here without a deal and we have money. There's no way to interpret that as anything other than you saying just get a deal done.

Now you're saying you have a hard cap on what you would pay.

Which is it?

I completely understand the frustration. I too would rather go into the draft with less critical needs for specific positions. But regardless of how we finish this offseason, we won't be done with the rebuild. It just isn't happening. So overpaying guys now simply because "we must have them" only makes it harder to keep adding pieces in the future, not to mention when it's time to extend guys like Gonzalez and Maye.
I'm hearing he wants 25Mill he ain't getting that from us or anybody: at least that's what I think. Not a Diggs coming off an ACL.

Think of this... simply adding 1.. just one difference maker at WR allows the offense to operate at a high level.

Drake, rham and gibby, Henry, pop, Boutte and new WR all would thrive under Josh... we have to remember this isn't AVP running the offense.
I agree with you, one guy could really open up the offense. But I'm still not significantly overpaying a player if that's currently the only way to get him on the roster today.

If Diggs came out today and said himself a 2 year, $20 million deal would lock him down, I would be furious if we declined. But until we know what he wants, the "make it happen" mindset doesn't do anything.

Absolutely, I don't think the issue is $$ it's more of where diggs is at with the ACL.. also diggs camp is supposed visiting other teams supposedly.. but I agree 2 years 20 million is very fair..

If I told you he wanted 2/50 with 35 guaranteed, and a member of the interview team faked getting a phone call so he wouldn't laugh in his face..

Ask TommyD he made mention of it.
So we're just going to believe whatever we hear without vetting the source? Let's try to do better than that. Otherwise just setting yourself up for disappointment.

The only thing I've seen mentioning $25 million is some Facebook post using an AI-generated image of Diggs as the header which also didn't cite any credible sources. It's very easy to spread misinformation.

Sadly, it's fairly obvious the person that linked that 'report' didn't read it before rushing to post it here. I can't help but think if he had, the lying liar that lied it into existence would have gotten fewer clicks
Hook, Line and Sinker.

So Maye and Diggs are Following each other. I am sure Maye knows the alternatives.

If Diggs wants $25m seriously he should just announce his retirement

If he wants $18-$20 he may get lucky.

And again, we either spend money or we sit on money again

I thought they mentioned that amount on the radio too so I don't think he pulled that number out of his ass. Just caught the tail end so not sure where they got that info from.

I know who told me. I'm just not going to tell you and everyone, because Curran can do his own legwork.

It may be the person who excused himself to take the fake phone call.

Diggs is going to go around and try to shop himself at that 2/50 rate. There's a chance he comes back here when less professional people in these interviews actually laugh in his and his agent's face. The reports that it was a good meeting overall is true, and Diggs is pretty close to playing and thinks he'll be ready by the opener. He and Vrabel vibed pretty well, from what I understand. There's also a pretty good chance he does a 1-year prove-it on a contender as well. The reasoning for his number was 'This is what I made on the Texans + Income Tax from MA'.

Of course, he hasn't blown out his knee or been demoted when he signed that particular deal, we'll see how good his agent is, I guess.

So the Patriots are leaving the door open. Me, personally, I'm not super hopeful, because I've seen this movie before.

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. A prove it deal would be ideal for us, but he'll follow the money. My hunch is Dallas because his brother plays there. But we'll see. Watch the Titans sign him because it's basically a meme at this point when it comes to WR's we pursue.

I do hope that's the case. Because Maye is still learning and an offense that is far too complicated for even Rookie "Blue Chip" Caliber WR's and other skill position players to learn would be terrible.

Dallas would make so much sense for that reason, if they have any money at all left.

I also didn't pull the 2/40 with the Usual Foxboro Litany of Incentives out of nowhere. I'm pretty sure that's not what they've offered, however, but it's sort of their top-end.

In my own opinion, that's just too much considering he's going to be limited (historically, outside of Adrian Peterson) this first year off the ACL. So theoretically, you'd actually get value from it in 2026. It *is* better than what we have, and certainly we can easily afford it. At this point though, it's sort of out of the Patriots hands, and I'm not super-mad about this one. (For context, I *was* super-mad about Hopkins last year, and I was proven very, very wrong on that)
