So? Paying players whatever they want is not how it works.
I want 200 thousand, million...

Yep. 4 years younger. I'm not sure hes the better player though.
I like diggs and all.. but the team Will likely trade for a long term answer.. SF is doing a soft rebuild and and we need to take advantage. We get ayuik let him take his time and get fully healthy if he get hit the playing field by November that gives him 2 months with Drake. No matter what I get the feeling we will be playing meaningful games this upcoming season.

We couldn't use a 1000yds WR because we're loaded with hem.
Hypothetically, let's say Diggs wanted a 3 year, $90 million contract. No incentives, over half of it guaranteed.

You're saying you make that deal, no question? If so, you just screwed yourself going forward trying to sign free agents and extend players.

Nobody is paying him that at his age and mileage of those tires. 13Mill should be the tops for him yearly now.

You might be right. But until he decides that is tops, it's not going to close a deal. So how high are you willing to go until he simply can't refuse?

Milton Williams is a great example. He said himself he felt Carolina was going to be the best offer until the Pats came in last minute and offered more. I'm glad they did, I think he's going to be a great addition to our team.

But what if Carolina upped their offer again? What if another team upped us both? Do we keep going until he's the highest paid defensive player ever? Obviously having the cap space doesn't make every signing a smart one, regardless of need.

The highest I would go for Diggs is 15Mill and that's because I know our Offense and Maye Desperately need a WR like him. Two years 15Mill maybe Three with an out: hopefully we Trade for B Aiyuk also: WR then would be set for years to come.

Well he wanted 25.
So.

I'd go to 2/40 with the usual Foxboro Laundry List of incentives.

25 is ****ing bonkers.
I am going with 27year old Aiyuk goodbye Diggs or mercenary.

Think of this... simply adding 1.. just one difference maker at WR allows the offense to operate at a high level.

Drake, rham and gibby, Henry, pop, Boutte and new WR all would thrive under Josh... we have to remember this isn't AVP running the offense.

Josh's Offense wasn't kind to Rookie WR's Twin.

Thats the problem. A few pages ago in this thread, you say Diggs left here without a deal and we have money. There's no way to interpret that as anything other than you saying just get a deal done.

Now you're saying you have a hard cap on what you would pay.

Which is it?

I completely understand the frustration. I too would rather go into the draft with less critical needs for specific positions. But regardless of how we finish this offseason, we won't be done with the rebuild. It just isn't happening. So overpaying guys now simply because "we must have them" only makes it harder to keep adding pieces in the future, not to mention when it's time to extend guys like Gonzalez and Maye.
