Remember all the analysis last year? Giants selected Nabors at 6 and the Titans selected Latham at 7, followed by Penix at 8, JJ McCarthy at 10, and Nix at 12. Remember all the experts laughing at Penix to the Falcons? Nix was a 5 year starter and athletically limited?

Now what do you have? The Falcons, Vikings, and Broncos have their QB starters on rookie deals, and the the Giants and Titans don't have a QB. Who would you rather be today? And you think the Giants, Titans, and Browns should not select a QB this year either?
Huh? I think you misunderstood my post, that’s not what I said at all

I wouldn’t call Penix or McCarthy a solution yet.

This does not bode well for draft day for us.

You might be right. My point is that the posters suggesting the Giants should select Nabors and Hunter or Carter two years in a row, and no QB, are crazy.
Not if the QBs available to them aren’t good.
Drafting a bad Qb instead of a good player at a different position is what’s crazy.
If penix flops the giants are certainly better having taken Nabors

Yes, I know, but I have had 3 friends that were fringe nfl that guys stuck around for 3-4 years and seeing the work and effort they put into it was pretty awe inspiring. Then to listen to people that are not able to even get to the doorstep of the NFL bash people that did is pretty frustrating.

While I don't know the people we are referring to now, it is the same as listening to people bash my friends. It's a me thing that I need to realize is not an attack on my friends.
That's just the reality your friends faced when they signed up to play football. And it started since pop warner. In fact, any profession is going to face scrutiny when they are public figure. It's nothing personal....for most people. The current players on offense doesn't stack up with the majority of the NFL which has been the case for years.

NFL clubs have to take stabs at QB as the other franchises are doing that. The Giants could have chosen McCarthy or Nix as well. This year it looks like Sanders, Dart, or Shough. If Giants do not try to draft a QB, they will never be successful. We have Milton as a stab in the 6th round, and that might have been a good decision. NFL franchises have to take risks drafting QBs.

Penix is going to be a very good qb in the nfl for a long tine barring injury

Milton has potential but is being over rated on the basis of one preseason like game where the opponent was not trying.
I read or heard an excellent point on that game and it has nothing to do with the opponent. That Bills defense was trying to stop them and the Pats oline was giving no time for Milton and the Bills secondary had multiple starters playing for at least the first half.

The real point was that Joe Milton himself was not playing a gameplan but was instead making plays based on his athleticism, which was highly impressive. Making plays on athleticism alone is not what makes a good NFL QB.

So that game was not a good showcase to see how Milton runs a gameplan but it did show he could make NFL level throws against starting CBs and starting Safeties.

Not enough for another team to pay a high pick but enough to where it would be disappointing to see Milton traded for a 3rd or a 4th rd pick. I want to see how he progresses with Josh McDaniels at OC

I would only trade him for a third on draft day if a guy high on our board is there and they feel he’s a impact player.

No. If they don’t draft a GOOD QB it will be harder for them to be successful.

Darling a bad QB just to draft a QB doesn’t make them better, it hurts them.

If they had taken a different player instead of Daniel Jones they would have been better off.

I chose to believe this is more posturing, similar to what the Titans have been doing. Would not surprise me if the Giants have been trying to trade up to the 1 for Ward.

Titans: “We’d be fine with taking Cam Ward with our pick” (perhaps, but not sure they’re sold and would probably rather trade down a few spots for extra assets if they can)

Giants: “We’d totally be fine with Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson” (a complete lie, they would’ve already signed Wilson if that were the case, they want Ward but want the Titans to lower their asking price)

That doesn’t bode well cause that would mean Titans are at 3 looking at Hunter or Carter.

Whether it is the Titans and Browns or the Giants and Browns I am not sure it matters. The Browns might be the key. We need 2 out of the 3 to chose a QB. I highly doubt all 3 will pick a QB.

We need Ward, Sanders, and Dart to have the pro days of their life.
And Hunter to run a 4.5

I'm not going to embarrass the poster by quoting them, but to say Milton is better then Penix is just stupid. Penix was a multi-year starter in college and almost got to a National Championship game. I'm not a huge Penix fan but he has proven pedigree at a decent level. Joe can throw an orange 90 yards and make some flash athletic plays against Buffalo back-ups not trying a leg.

6 rounders are never “risks”

I know and you're right. I have talked to my friends about my irrational reaction and they have said "I don't give a **** about what people think about me". There is the question, why do I care what people say about them. Like I said it is a me thing.

I agree that on offense most of the guys should be relied upon. Hopefully with the focus on defense in FA that the draft will bring an influx of competent pros.

I have not given up on Polk and Baker, but they can be upgraded for sure along with Lowe.

I was talking about Dart, Sanders, Shough, Nix, and McCarthy (all mentioned in my post) who can be considered a risk as a Top 10/12 selection. Clearly all 5 QBs had a lot of detractors.

Not sure why you thought a 6th rounder would be a risk.
