How could have Douglas been forgotten when he improved on every offensive category and played a lot more?
I'm talking about initially. They did feed him the ball much more as the season progressed, but even then, at least to my eyes, there was a lot less "this was a play designed to get Douglas the ball and make some yards" and a lot more "Maye ran around and found Douglas"

He also was hurt for 3 games in '23 vs '24 which partially leads to a higher output in '24.

McConkey was considered a slot too….
Not really. Not by knowledgeable evaluators. To use Patriots players, he was always projected more as an Edelman/Deion Branch type who were Z receivers that can/should also play a lot in the slot, as opposed to Troy Brown/Amendola types who are pure slots.

They keep pushing the cap hit forward, hoping the increase Year over year will make it less painful. In part it does. But the cap is not increasing as much as they are pushing forward.
From my view, it looks like they should be able to manage but will never have a year with "a lot" of cap space - between $10-30M annually, probably. Which is enough to make a few small moves, and that's enough if you're a Super Bowl contender typically, but if they start to go on a downswing and their drafting is not good then they will have problems.

I think that is more on Brisket and the ****ty line than AP.

Maybe they didn't think Douglas was worthy of having plays designed for him?

Quite frankly I think people are overrating him a bit.

Nice player. Gets open but we aren't talking about Deion Branch here.

He has a lot of reasons to want to come here
-he would be the best wr on the team
-Drake Maye
-Josh McDaniels, wh out de system he is a great fit for
-up and coming team that brought in a good coach and is spending big to
improve
-Bourne is his best bud
Unfortunately, i don't see the Pats keeping but Bourne and Kupp... it is a numbers game... and unless we are happy with the current core after Kupp (assuming we get him) someone is the odd man out, and that is likely Bourne.

Douglas’ best asset is his ability to separate quickly from man coverage. O’Brien took advantage of that his rookie year. Last year, most of his touches were gadget plays and broken plays. I don’t think they took advantage of his skill set. McDaniels will.

Would i love him here? Absolutely. But he is 30 years old. I know this is a negotiating tactic, but come on. For a guy you'll have to pay through the nose for who is probably going on the decline after this coming season no one is giving you a 1st round pick. Even the 32 pick overall seems questionable at this point. There is a history of really good DEs playing well after 30 and have some really good years, but it becomes much more spuratic and usually none are as good as their best years at/before 30 in any case.

Double paying in both draft pick(s) and money for an older player makes no sense for this team right now. At least not at this level where it's a high pick and top of the market contract. If you shift the sliders down on one or multiple of those variables (age, contract size, pick compensation) then trades can make sense. But when all 3 of those are high it makes no sense right now.

I'm wondering about Justin Skule out of Tampa. Backup to the best LT in the NFL. Has been their swing tackle, but is not too old at 28. Maybe worth bringing in to compete for the LT job so at least you have some parts there before the draft.

The guy is going to be 31 during the season. Who is going to give up a first rounder for a guy who might be on the decline in a year or two.

Smart thinking.

Does the fun start at 4pm ET i.e. 8pm over here in the UK?

Only pick I am sending to cincy is for higgings

I undersold again, didn't I? I am bad at this selling thing

But we can count on either Hunter or McMillan being available. With our needs still plenty I'm starting to think that by going with either we at least know one of our WR holes is filled.

I have a similar thought with Campbell. We know he's going to be available at 4 so that's one hole filled. Except his arms scare me way more than Tets 40 time.

I'm actually really starting to accept the idea of Tet. He might not be the prospects that Nabors or Harrison were but I also think he has a very low bust potential.
Tet is a slightly taller Harry! No thanks!

Outside the box love it.
I’d look there any anyone who wore a Philly jersey.
