Is this how FA’s will look from now on? It’s Wednesday and it feels like the market is nearly dried up.
Gotta find those diamonds in the rough.
Players coming off injuries, or Been buried on a depth chart.
Such as Mike Vrabel, Rob Ninkovoch, James Harrison.

This is where front offices can shine.

Yeah, generally the case. Some guys will be cut after 4:00 which might spur a little action. Otherwise no need to keep checking nonstop like Monday.

On that note, back to work….

Pretty ridiculous that they let that report on Cam Robinson get out. It's one thing to feel that way internally, but why TF would he sign here with that out there. It's so demeaning and disrespectful and now if you do sign him to the incentive laden deal you want, you've put him square in the cross hairs of loser dweebs like Felger and Giardi who don't even watch football and just drum up **** posting and delusional radio callers to rag on him all year and make him hate it here, even if he does play hard and play well.

You are assuming “ they” put it out, when it’s more likely a leak or an assumption by the media. I seriously doubt Vrabel or anyone else high up told this to talking head. And it’s not like we didn’t already know these concerns.

In case this wasn't posted already:

And the McCorkle era in Jax is over before it started.

I clicked one of their youtube videos, made it 10 seconds into it. They were recapping FA so far and Maz started *****ing about how it was bad... I bailed immediately. I was poised and ready for the negativity. Hopefully, other fans do too and they see it in the analytics. Those guys would ***** about Mom's Apple Pie.

Well, Mike, the crust really isn't as flakey as you'd expect...

Big big big money guys sign early on Monday, then mid-level dudes spend more time seeing if they can find the best combo of money + opportunity for them Tuesday into Wednesday. As the actual new league year hits today, and more guys start hitting the wire, deals will start getting inked. Then, after them you'll start scooping the lower-money vets who are mainly seeking an opportunity.

You guys asked for it.

Carlton Davis since he's been in the NFL:

2018: 13 games 492 yards, 63 completion %, 12.6 yards per completion, 6 TD's, O INT's, 116 QB rating.
2019: 14 games 648 yards, 49 completion %, 11.2 yards per completion, 6 TD's, I NT, 80 QB rating
2020: 14 games, 855 yards, 62 completion %, 13.2 yards per completion, 5 TD's, 4 INT's, 87.6 rating
2021: 10 games, 422 yards, 57 completion %, 10.6 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 83.2 rating
2022: 13 games, 622 yards, 55 completion %, 12 yards per completion, 3 TD's, 1 INT, 82.8 rating
2023: 12 games, 721 yards, 61.4 completion %, 14.4 yards per completion, 4 TD's 2 INT's, 96 rating

Tampa traded him to Detroit.

His only year in Detroit:

2024: 13 games, 567 yards, 55 completion %, 13.5 yards per completion, 2 TD's, 2 INT's, 77 QB rating.

Summary: He misses at least 3-6 games per year, gives up lots of yards, yards per completion, TD's, but doesn't make up for it.
True RM,

Us singing him is Vrabel telling us what he thinks of everyone not named gonzo at CB..

Then why did Pats sign Tonga on Monday?
Head scratcher
A million guys like him out there

Sometimes you run into those one-off scenarios where a guy agrees to what you're offering pretty quick. Tonga must have liked the fit here and his agent didn't think he'd find substantially higher offers elsewhere.

A director of pro scouting had a more optimistic view, noting that the Patriots “had to overpay for some but signed good players that are plug and play and will help them immediately.”

...

He actually believed the Patriots got a bargain in Williams, who’s the highest paid non-QB to switch teams in free agency this offseason.

“The Milton deal is a tax on him being the one young good player on the market,” he said, while noting the Patriots also probably had to pay more because New England is an undesirable place to play. “Honestly, coming in under Christian Wilkins is a small win.”

...

One league source believed the Patriots paid near the top of the market for players like Williams, Landry and Spillane. But he also noted that they’re productive players and that paying Williams $26 million per year is more advisable than the Panthers dishing out $18 million per year for Tershawn Wharton after they missed out on Williams.

Another analytics analyst believes Williams has been an underrated player for a while, and continued, “I’m not sure he’s going to out-perform that contract, but when you’ve got that much cap space, it’s gotta go somewhere and I think you could do a lot worse.”

...

That analytics analyst also liked the Spillane signing, calling him “a force” who has “quite the reputation as a tough-ass dude.” He also believed Hollins was good value.

Not sure the Pats have anything to do with “Los talks Pats”
Idiots like us babble and make stuff up.

LOL, you should be a comedian…really! Dude, I want a GOOD OL just like you do…. and I think Onwenu will kick ass when he just has to play RG and nothing more.

The problem here is that our OL was like the 31-32nd best in the league last year….if we ONLY HAD AN OL RANKED IN THE TOP HALF OF THE LEAGUE WE WOULD BE SOME GOOD, IMO.

Drake can cook with an average OL, IMO.
With an average OL, we would be playoff contenders.

We are far, far from having an average OL.

However, even with 5 actual NFL quality starters (even well below average overall), we would have a huge improvement in the Offense, especially with better OL coaching and with Josh developing an Offense that recognizes the strengths and limits of what we have on the OL [one-two-throw could be there again; however it does help to have a FB]

The new league year officially opens at 4:00 PM today, so expect to start seeing news about guys being cut or traded over the coming hours.

Feels like we are in the portion of free agency where everyone is waiting for prices to come down. It’s bargain shopping time.

I’m not really interested in Cam Robinson unless we are suitably protected contract wise. He’s below average but better than what we have with motivation issues
We really don’t need the Trent Brown types if we are rebuilding the culture.

Moses, Onwenu, and Strange at RT, RG, and Center respectively are average to above average. If the Pats wanted to sign a LG in FA that is average to above average they could (or they could have traded for Thuney) - maybe the Pats think the options already on the roster are average. LT is the real hole that needs to be plugged. The rest can be improved, but are OK.

Eh, I don't think it's a headscratcher at all. It actually makes a ton of sense to me. The front office has been scouting and preparing lists for months now. They've got their lists of guys they like at all levels of the market. It doesn't take a ton of time to place a quick call to the agent of someone like Tonga and make your quick offer of a near-minimum salary and since those guys always have uncertain markets, there's a good chance they might just jump at it and take you near-minimum offer. And that type of signing isn't one you do or don't do based on what happens at the top of the market because you need 90 guys to bring to camp, so there's no downside to taking 5 minutes to place the call and get ahead of any other potential suitors who maybe offer a little more or the player just prefers them if given the choice.
