This year's defense will be fun to watch

Need a healthy Barmore and/or to add some DT help or this D will have no teeth.

Pressure starts inside and works its way outward. Need some bulls in the middle to push the pocket and stuff the run.

They're doing it the right way - a total revamp in the trenches. But, while many might stress the forgotten OL, Vrabel is focussing on the Front 7. And that's smart. We were surprisingly weak last year (coaching notwithstanding)

Consider - Bentley returning, Dugger returning to full health PLUS the vast improvements to: Wise, Jennings, Godx, Ekuale, Tavai...

This D is markedly better on paper before the draft. A good place to start before looking for OL & playmakers (WR, TE, RB)

ok you win. Harold Landry, Milton Williams, Christian Barmore and Keion white are comparable to Willie McGinest, Richard Seymour, Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren.

You still don't get it. Give up while you're behind.

If we can land one more edge rusher and a true fs i don’t think people will pass on us either. Defense will be a major strength provided these and if barmore is back.
Yup, we need a FS and an EDGE. There are EDGEs and run stuffing DTs in the draft too. I prefer a FA FS that has been there and done that.

Hope we can say the same for our Offense.

I believe what tune was saying is.. the guys we have now are probably the most talented we've had in the front 7 since those Patriot greats.. if you thought Seymour was good then.. imagine had he played in a one gap D where he was allowed to get after the QB like he wanted too.

Hope we can say the same for our Offense.
I'm coming PF2:

I'm excited about the addition of Spillane. Captain in Vegas. Everything I read is he's a Bruschi/Vrabel type. Good stuff.

Agreed! I'm curious though. Does Tavai remain as depth rotation player? I think Bentley stays.. he's a respected leader and I hear he and Vrabel have forged a good relationship so far.

I really don't know. You'd think Tavai has punched his ticket out, but perhaps with proper leadership and the organization as a whole now going in the right direction, maybe he sticks. I certainly feel like IVWT is becoming a thing.

Me too! I think Tavai is still a talented enough player to be here In the rotation in a role suited best for him. I'm sure he regrets making those comments.

I'm not so sure about regrets. I think that's some of the entitlement stuff that MV spoke of.

Ages: 28, 26, 26 and 26.

To say they're better before they take the field outright is silly. That's not what @Tunescribe said, he said they *could* be. Considering they're all just entering their prime (except Landry), it's ridiculous as well to just dismiss it as a possibility.

@TommyD4207 made the best comparison of this current defense. I think it’s going to be the closest to what we saw during the Carroll years which I loved.

Bill’s defenses were also aggressive early in the dynasty before the rule changes. He was also known for bringing exotic blitzes on obvious passing downs.

Now DC’s are too paranoid and we see the most vanilla schemes. Every defense looks the same!

The two gapping-reading and reacting was just getting boring as hell to watch. I think we’re going to see a faster, more aggressive defenses.

Carol's defense under Sidwell was Awesome.
They had their lapses at times, but they were fun as hell to watch overall.

They also always had an injury to McGinest, Ted Johnson and Ty Law.

The Carroll era was defined by unfortunate injuries and poor management.
