According to Ian Rappaport, another team offered Godwin $20 million more than the Bucs to Chris Godwin and he turned it down to go back to the Bucs. Didn't say the team, but it could have been the Pats.

I think we're blaming the front office for not signing any decent WR since Moss, and when we actually HAD a decent one on Myers we let him walk to bring in juju.

Imagine giving Moss 10 million a year after having the best season recorded in WR history.

It's not hard to imagine why this team can't attract WR. They simply don't pay them what they're worth.

Yeah i don't believe it, it might be 20 million in funny money that doesn't mean anything but he's not leaving 20 million guaranteed money on the table.

That's a team with a fake number based on unattainable incentives.

If someone offered him 3/86 it's not really 20m more unless they had 64m gtd which i don't believe happened.

Kraft and co even lowballed Landry, they got a deal he wanted 17m a year, The Patriots prioritize winning the deal over getting good football players you'll come here if you take their deal with the good old "Patriot guarantees" or you won't be here.

Which is the main reason top free agents don't come not because of winning or weather.

They wouldn't even pay Vrabels guy what he wanted why would they match what other teams are offering for free agents?

So they shouldn’t negotiate? They should just ask what a player wants then say “ok”? That’s not how multi million dollar business works, for anybody.

So on one hand you could say the Patriots tried. That you can't force a player to do what they don't want to do.

On the other hand you could argue that if offering 33% more money than the winning bid isnt enough to land the player then you are the in the depths of hell as a franchise.

Assuming it was the Patriots.
