Don’t shoot the messenger. I don’t know who this guy is, but he does have 15k followers. But he claims to have inside sources.

Would make sense if we’re signing a LG, this should free up some room and you had to figure we’d have been needing to address this next year anyway in the best case scenario so why not now. Id like to add mekhari or Jenkins at LG and move strange to c for good.

Hate to see him go, but would probably be for the best.

Hasn’t been reliable health wise, also can give us much more positional flexibility.

Go after atlantas center, sign cam Robinson, upgrade two positions.

If true there is no shock for me, I was hoping Strange could be moved definitely to center and maybe Andrews could provide something on the left guard if still healthy and wanting to play, but it seems like this will be mutual whenever this happens, now or next year

I mean it’s very possible that Andrews is let go (or retires), but I’m going to need a better source. 15K followers but nobody here has ever heard of the guy or knows what he does (doesn’t say in his bio) tells me this could be a phony. You can buy bots on Twitter to artificially boost your follower count. You can also get paid on Twitter based on engagement, which is how you get clickbait guys like that Grilled Cheese account.

It’s easy for someone to predict ahead of time that Andrews, who looked washed last season and has discussed the possibility of retirement since the end of the 2023 season, is getting cut and then take credit for having the “scoop” when it does happen.

Fitzy follows the guy FWIW.

On one hand Fitzy follows him, on the other it's more probable than not that Fitzy has also grilled cheese on occasion... so there's that to consider. Yeah, I'm gonna hold out for Angelo in Everett on this one

I would imagine that, as one of the longest tenured Patriots, team captain, and among the final first hand links to Bradys time here, they’d let him retire if he didn’t have a spot on the team. I doubt he’d want to play anywhere else and, with the questions of him being able to next year, don’t see him having an option to.

I doubt -and hope- this isn’t true.

He’s from Georgia. I could see him playing a year for a southern team of one wanted him before retiring.

Fair. He really looked cooked last year, and I wouldn't blame him if he didn't want to go through yet another rehab just to potentially be replaced because of lack of production.

David Andrews was a great anchor and a great Patriot. Hopefully he gets a red jacket someday.

There are a number of centers and guards that look like they’ll be FA’s, so looks like we’ll be diving into the IOL market.

I kind of expected this. Andrews is a below average starter. Why bring a guy like that back for 1 year when you have the cap space and picks to replace and upgrade half of your roster.

Not actually a big surprise, it’s something that has been discussed in some places. Look at it like this:

- Andrews is older and is knocking on the door of retirement
- Andrews is coming off of a season ending injury
- You aren’t sure you can rely on him as your starter, and if you can, if he will hold up
- Even if he does, you probably won’t get more than 1 year out of him
- There are multiple quality free agent centers on the market who would be upgrades
- If you signed a center to replace him, he would probably not want to be a backup
- He can be released for fairly low dead money and around $2.5M cap space gained
- Releasing him now lets him find another team for a year or two if he wishes
