Speaking of Carter, though he is thought of as maybe the best prospect in this draft, the one red flag on him (injury aside) is his lack of size. The dude is listed at 251... no way. 235 at most... probably below 230 honestly . He actually reminds me in some ways of a slightly shorter Jason Taylor. They have a very similar body types. And Taylor played undersized his career from a weight perspective, didn't seem to hurt him. Taylor was listed at 260 much of his career i think... but he played at or under 240 a fair amount.
And in that cast being on the shorter side for a DE is good for Carter. He will easily be able to get under any OL he is likely to face, and while he may not have a ton of weight, his core is incredibly strong and makes up for it. I think that getting low and his rather awesome makes up for his lack of size. Plus, they need to be super wary of the shiftiness.
I have to say this, and i do not say it lightly. I I don't believe i have EVER seen someone change direction and accelerate after getting around an OT like Carter. Once he is around a guy, there is a surprising small amount of bend or his momentum carrying him around and away from the QB on many plays. He changes direction very quickly towards to the QB. I don't think I've seen anything like it before.
