Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

He’s a ****y.

Now you know.
It's more than that but yea....

Look at a guy like KP...not exactly Rick Mahorn but he'll stand up and use his body to do stuff

I have a feeling the east goes through Boston again this year. I don’t think the Cavs over the Bucks or Knicks is any sure thing.
It will.

OKC is coming out of the West.

Of course I said it would be us and Denver last year....

Sounds more and more like it. Thing is, the other teams might have a Brown type. Or a KP type. They don't have a Tatum for sure and definitely not a Tatum, Brown and KP. Thats doing a disservice to White and Holliday as well. Not to mention Hauser and Pitch.

That's for sure but there's a fly in the ointment - KP. This is when we get to see if KP is worth the $30 Million he's getting this year. If he can stick around for the playoffs - mission accomplished. But if he goes out again like last year...

Hes easily already earned the $30m already. It's not like he was on IR for 82 games.

I agree KP tries and he rim protects, but the only thing he uses his body for is a get pushed back or fall over
Yep. No question KP is limited physically. There is only so much a human broom with eyes can do. He does try to set screens. He tries to get in the way of players driving to the basket. Hes not afraid...He makes the effort.

To Icy's point, while KAT is a box score's dream, there is this "gritty/grinding/getting dirty" part of his game that is missing.

I used to think the same thing about Tatum...not any more.

Last night's game, the second in a row where the opposition turned up the heat on defense & ran on offense, exposed these Celtics. Their 3's were clanging early and as with other losses, they failed to even attempt to rebound on most of those misses. They had 7 offensive rebounds. 7! And only 18 defensive rebounds.

They were seriously out-hustled in this game. How many clear paths to the hoop with easy lay-ins did the Pistons have? 12? This is a team they might face in the playoffs. This was not a good look.

Was this all because Brown didn't play? I hope it was that simple.

Back to back games is ******** for a professional sports league. Adam Silver is the biggest clown in sports.

Cs shot over 50% on 3s in first half and were in the game due to this.

Pistons are really hot and also they matchup pretty well with Cs. Even their terrible team last year took us the distance a few times.

No, I don’t think being without Brown makes that big a difference, not a difference of 23 points (point spread vs results difference.). Their record without him is exceptionally high.

It just wasn’t their night. They had no energy in the second half. I wouldn’t mind avoiding Detroit in the playoffs either.

I don't care how well they shot. Launching threes with no one under the hoop is giving up too much to the other team. The rebound difference was one of the reasons they lost. They were outrebounded 31-52.

Mental fatigue leads to lazy and sloppy basketball and last night was lazy and sloppy.

I missed the game. Didn't know they were playing. I have NBA Gamepass so it pissses me off when I miss a game.
But in this case, probably not.
Detroit is a playoff team and one of the hottest teams in the league.
Playing back to backs at this time of year is just wrong, unless they're both at home.
NBA needs to do a better job.
I'm still not concerned.
Stuff like this happens.
It happened with Truth,KG et al, happened with Bird et al, happened with Cowens et al and yes, even happened with Russell et al. It has happened to every single NBA Champion.
This ain't for your benefit,RW, since you know this.
But there's one poster who gets a little too easy alarmed. My advice to him is relax, enjoy the games -- although if I had watched this game I'd have been annoyed- but see the big picture. If games like this happen over and over at this stage of the season- then we all have something to worry about.
But I don't see that happening.

Agreed. All teams have clunkers, particularly on back to backs. Literally nothing to worry about with that game

Yep. They were on a roll for over a month. They'll be fine.

My "alarm" stems mostly from what I see in most of their losses - a lack of rebounding. I love the fact that they hit those 3's at the clip they do as they are revolutionizing the game. That said, they drive me nuts when all 5 offensive players are outside the arc. If it's a miss, they basically concede the ball to the other team.

I hear ya,man. I share those frustrations.
But after a game like that they usually crash the glass the next games and drive the ball more for rimshots or high pct midrange.
It used to be getting beat in transition in defense that ticked me off but they've really tightened that up.
So far what they've done has worked.
But my one concern is the fact the East is much tougher than last year plus OKC is much tougher than Mavs last year.
So defense and rebounding are key.
But these guys are smart they usually make the right adjustments and step up their hustle.
I still think injuries are the only thing stopping them. They won't get by like last year w/o KP or any of their top starters.

I stick with my alarmist assessment of this team.

This game was more than alarming. It was demoralizing. To start out like they did and let the team come back like the Cavs did has to stick with you. I hope they can shrug it off.

And once again, KP is not there when they need him - although to be fair, if he has that flu bug going around, he'll probably be out for a week.

Now I'm going to sound like a homer. WTF was going on with the refereeing? It was horrible in the second half. Touch fouls on the Celtics while Tatum and Brown got mauled on drives to the hoop.

I never ***** about fouls cuz they usually even out. But the refereeing vs. the C's in the 2nd half was pretty bad.
Cavs were at full strength, C's down 2 starters so I'm not surprised at the result.
I was more surprised by the blitz Boston put on em in the 1st qtr.
Both teams at full strength, Celtics are better team but a series likely goes 7 games. The Hunter pickup really helped Cleveland.

LMFAO!! at the Miami " Golden Oldies". Holy ****!
I'll give them this- they're original. Haven't seen any other nba team do this.
They might be better than most of the nba dance teams.
I swear watching this team at home ain't nearly as fun as watching them on the road IMO.. another home loss.. it's been the theme all season.. teams don't fear the garden..

Strange game but when you have goofy lineups thats kinda what happens sometimes.

The won a game they should win.
They won't beat Cleveland in a 7 game series.. Cleveland got even better after the trade deadline... they have no weaknesses.
