2025 Draft: TEs

BTW good for you for listening to WEEI still. I pretty much stopped listening when they broke up the Big O Show. I go all the way back to the Eddie Andelman days.
I listen to the 2-6 show with Pats Ted Johnson, Fitzy and Andy Hart. A lot of football talk.

I think it would be a Belichickian mistake NOT to draft a TE this year. This draft is a DEEP talented TE class. I remember similar years when Belichick would ignore a deep TE class, so frustrating. The one year he finally drafted TE’s, it was one of the WORST TE classes ever.

If you want to “weaponize” this offense, grab one of the pass catching TEs as well as a receiver. Obviously this all depends on what they do in free agency, but whatever they do, they should still draft a TE and at least one WR.

Funnily enough, the one TE I really want is Jackson Hawes who's not so great a receiver but blocks like an offensive lineman. Seems perfect for a McDaniels power running game.

BB had this amazing incredible coaching genius Nick Caley coaching his TEs so he could afford to wait until Day 3 and still produce Pro Bowl caliber TEs Asiasi and Keene.

Not sure how this is relevant to the 2025 draft.

I think we'll see some of the F TEs go pretty high in the draft as teams try to recreate Bower's success last year. My hope is that we can get a true Y as an understudy for Henry for a year who will upgrade that position. A dynamic player with blocking and receiving abilities could transform the offense. I'm not expecting Gronk levels of talent, but I would hope to find someone who can fill that role.

Warren will likely go top ten. I keep coming back to Taylor as a solid all rounder, though I'm not sure he's a good enough blocker or dynamic enough a receiver to be an upgrade yet. Still, he's intriguing.

I do like Manxman's idea of getting a plus blocker later in the draft. Build toughness and run the ball.

The trouble with Taylor is that he's being projected as a high second by the likes of DJ and Brugler and I think that's a bit rich. He's worth considering with our two picks in the 3rd. The one Y I think might be worth considering is Terrance Ferguson of Oregon who's a good all-rounder with decent athleticism. Don't think he's a TE1 but a good enough stopgap to take over from Henry/Hooper until we're in a position to draft a genuine TE1.

Luke Lachey (Iowa) and Mitchell Evans (ND) are the other two that stand out as later round Ys although I think Ferguson has the more complete game.

Terrance Ferguson - Mason Taylor nuff said!

Miami TE Elijah Arroyo also won’t work out this week as a result of a knee injury suffered at the senior Bowl.

Mash unit living up to his billing don't matter if you have all the athleticism in world if you're always in the tub. I wouldn't touch him until Day 3 I'm getting Dalton Keene vibes from him.

With Tet and Green potentially falling out of the top 10 it may be time to reconsider this guy...

This TE class is too decent for that very goo dept. Taylor - Ferguson - Helm and Gadsen good enough for me.

@manxman2601 hey what's your take on that guy below gives me George Kittle vibes looks solid.

Luke Lachey
Had a Quick Look but haven't spent much time on him yet. Waiting to see how the TEs run before narrowing down my search. Pats do seem to be looking at late round TEs though so could be worth a look.
