Jason LaCanfora: Pats really want Higgins "He's going to New England"

He's reporting what another team's executive thinks. I'm sure the guy thinks that. Doesn't mean that it'll turn out that way.
And that’s what I mean by his being better than Volin but not reliable. Taking an opinion from an opposing GM, who doesn’t have any facts behind it other than knowing Kraft was embarrassed at the grief they got, and turning that into a fact that the Pats are hot and heavy over Higgins. This is why he makes so many mistakes.

Would certainly be a nice upgrade over the WR Jagfest we have here.

La Canfora typically doesn’t break stories, but this isn’t really a breaking story either - just what he’s heard from execs. I think it makes sense that execs believe NE is the most logical destination. The key question is if Higgins wants to go there, and if Cincinnati lets him leave at all.

In other news... water is wet.

What the story should say is "NE really wants him, and is prepared to outbid everyone."

I doubt we outbid everyone, but I can hope.
I still feel we need another starting wr to Higgins.
I have no faith for Baker and Polk.
Boutte is a good number 4. we need to get Douglas to watch Edelman tape.

It was me, and you aren't a good GM.

Since we've gone back to Pickens, here on the NFL RedZone, we are going Quad Box on acquiring him...

Yeah, agreed.

I think Higgins is probably one of the few guys they'll be willing to outbid everyone on. It'll really come down to whether Higgins buys into Vrabel's vision. He shouldn't be as bothered by the region, since he just played for 5 years in Cincinnati OH.

Burrow isn’t going to let this happen.

What is Burrow going to do to stop Higgins leaving.

Cincy is in trouble. They have to resign Chase. Several of their key players are entering the last years of their deals and asking to be traded or huge top of the market contracts (Trey Hendrickson and Germain Pratt). And they only have $46 million in cap space. Are they really going to give their #2 WR #1 WR money and gut the rest of their team to satisfy their QB?

I think the Bengals would like to keep Higgins but they have other priorities more important.

They are listening to me, who said they were glad I wasn’t GM the other day?
Now you need a really good number 2 steal from the North again snd trade for Pickens.
I would only trade for Pickens IF it didn't cost us anything more than a pick or picks after the 3rd Round this year and possibly the next AND ONLY if we also get Higgins. If either of those two don't come to pass, I wouldn't trade for Pickens.

Signing Higgins and extending Chase, even if they take a "Hometown Discount), will not leave Cincy with enough money to just keep the talent in other area's that they already have, let alone add talent other than the Draft (and that won't be enough and will keep them from taking the next step forward).

Get this one guy and throw everything else at the lines. It's not an either/or proposition.
Yep. Both the OL and DL NEED a serious infusion of talent, in addition to skill position players.

There's no chance he returns to the Bungles. I don't think Washington gets him either btw, they have Terry coming up in a contact year. They can't pay Tee more than Terry.

Agree. If they re-sign Higgins and sign Chase they have no money to do anything else. That’s not how you build a championship team, so I’m hoping they sign both of them. Just takes another team out of contention.

Vrabel can talk about how he worked with Brown and McD can talk about working with Moss. I feel like they can sell him on the vision. If he believes in Maye and NE is another story.
