The jets are now all-in to the QB market

All they need this year is a Mac Jones or Punky Wilson type QB, one that ****s the bed in critical situations.
So... Aaron Rodgers?

One thing to remember, the HC and GM were brought in separately and have no connection to each other. Don't put it past the GM to get what he thinks is a good QB and then complain about how the HC couldn't do anything with him and the HC to complain that the QB wasn't good enough. The JESTS never fail to deliver.

I really hope someone here with their infinite wisdom isn’t thinking “let’s bring Afraud Rodger’s in as a vet for Maye!!”. RK I’m looking at you! This would be the worst possible thing for Drake’s progression. Then again, I don’t think Afraud’s ego could take being the worst QB in the qb room. Much less being washed up and a total dbag.
Jordan love says that Aaron was a mentor to him when they were in GB. Tor-mentor that is, even free Rodger's is not a fit with the Pats

Remember when the Yets took Zach Wilson with the 2nd overall pick??

I don't think Jets can dare to pick a 1st round QB. Especially with the nobodies that are available in this draft.
Ward & Sanders are not going to be franchise QB's, and they would certainly be destroyed in NYJ.

So, they have to look at available QB's - Darnold, Fields, Winston, Heineke, Brissett
Or trades - Carr, Cousins, Watson

I honestly think Fields or Winston is their best bet - if I cared about them.
And draft a flyer in Leonard in the mid round.

Jets = Journeymen Every Time, Somehow.

Guys destined to become journeymen like Sanchez, Darnold, Geno Smith, Kyle Wilson, etc. Sometimes they just cut to the chase and sign an already well-traveled quarterback like Fitzpatrick, McCown, Testaverde, etc. It really does get hard to ignore that it is a foundational issue that starts with ownership. Hell, look at Washington. Snyder was finally forced out, and under new ownership, they have hope. A promising young quarterback, a front office that seems to understand how to build a roster, and within the next 5 years or so, a new stadium.

AR had a down year by his standards, but he is arguably the best QB on the open market today
most likely not 100% healthy this past season, he still had a rating of 90.5, 28td's and only 11 int's.
I could see Tenn, NYG, LVR and maybe even the Vikes with some interest.

And yet Green Bay let him go, and now da Jete are doing the same thing.

GB got a bunch of compensation, but that's because da Jete were too dumb to wait for GB to release him.

Otherwise, it is understood he was going to be a salary cap casualty.

Both teams are taking huge salary cap hits to walk away from him.

That says a lot to me, and I think it should say a lot to any NFL front office.

Having said that, Mark Davis is dumb enough to give it a try.

well that sucks... that sort of dysfunction really embodied what the jete are all about...

and, with rodgers gone, it begs the question, what about Lily?

As long as there's threads about Rodgers, there's room for Lily.

I think it really speaks to how teams are in real trouble without a good QB (Giants). But are in even worse trouble with a bad, expensive QB (Cleveland, Jets).

true
I think GB believed they have the HC and QB (Love) that allowed Rodgers to leave a year or two early than a year or two late.
based on their play since, they clearly made the right decisions.

I thought the Jets with a healthy Rodgers were the division favorites this season. just as clearly, I was wrong. But I do not believe we saw a healthy Rodgers all year. what would the Jets have been with a healthy Rodgers running the offense, if they kept Saleh to run the defense?

I just don't get the impression that Rodgers wants to work very hard at it anymore. If he did, he'd be worth it to a desperate team.

Which is why he won't end up at the Raidaaahs.

Even if he's designated a post June 1 cut, the Jets are still on the hook for $49m dead money over the next two years. Absolutely brilliant.

Jets are second to none when it comes to entertainment.
And another $6 million in dead money for Mike Williams per overthecap.com

If the Rats had Milton, don’t you think they would give him the chance to win the job?

And the next answer is “no less than a 2nd round pick.”

One ex-NFL exec that I follow says it's okay to pay big bucks for a younger FA on the way up, but a huge mistake to pay big bucks to an older FA on the way down.

There were signs that Watson had peaked and was on the way down before he got suspended.

Then, of course, no one knew how his mental outlook would change after he was rightly suspended, and after he got life-changing money on top of getting away with what he did.

Clearly CLE regrets paying what they paid for him.

Over in our 'smoking' thread we have:

Patrick Mahomes looked like garbage at the end of the 2020 season when his offensive line was a walking mash unit of injuries.

He’s not regressing or getting worse, his team was worse… specifically his line. Brady looked bad when his line was bad. Every QB in history has.

No matter how many times QB fanboys here tell us one person was responsible for success in the ultimate team sport… they’re wrong. With poor blocking and team everyone looks mortal.

And I totally agree with that.

A bad OL is what got Rodgers the injury in his first game with da Jete, and it's what he was still working through when he played last season.

A bad OL is why da Jete never were able to develop Darnold or Wilson, after spending high first round picks on each.

The blame falls on Woody Johnson, whose desire to get a woody by being on the back pages of the tabloids is why da Jete have such a stars and scrubs approach to team building. When things go bad they just fire everyone without changing the fundamental issues, so it's all on the owner.

Despite what some say about Krafty Bob, he told the world he made a mistake by hiring Mayo. We get no such introspection from Woody Johnson. He just goes on to hire the next meathead coach and independent GM.

Rogers is out, Jets are ending speculation on their QB needs

Wonder if this shakes ip the draft a little....makes moving down a little more enticing
if there is an indication that they want QB Sanders, then I would make a trade with them. Shedur is going to be dog ****

Wouldn’t be thrilled with Deion being in the building watching his career progress either.

It was clearly obvious he had a down year his last year in Green Bay and his career is in decline...which is what I said here the day the Jete signed him.
