Yeah but the Eagles also have two WR1’s (Brown and Smith) and potentially the best RB1 in the league (Barkley)… on top of potentially the best OL… trenches are important, but it’s not like they won with jimmy’s and joe’s out there
That Eagles Oline did look massive though

The things that kinda gives Mahomes a chance

1. Brady had that 10 year gap between wins which gives Mahomes some wiggle room, though less than people think because he won't have the same longevity.

2. Mahomes doesn't have a Peyton Manning to compete with for top seed in the conference.

Now that still means Mahomes is much less likely than not to reach Brady, but he still has a chance which is pretty incredible. Most guys fall WAY off pace to get close to Brady within like 5 years of their career. Having a fighting chance is still nuts.
If the NFL helps the Chiefs again, sure.

What you saw tonight, was Mahomes being exposed. Reid as well. There is nothing nuts about it.

Mahomes doesn't have the ability to go 10 years without a title and then have a second wind. He's actually already on a pretty sharp decline if you look over his last 60 games objectively.

It's easier to replace the offense when you have the QB so maybe he has an opportunity there but as the defense is aging out they're going to have to nail the drafts and they're going to have to do it from the end of the rounds

Maybe they can get one more somehow but I think they're pretty much done. No way is he going to pass Brady in titles.

The Chiefs didn’t just lose tonight
- they completely collapsed. The offense was mentally gone by half. Teams looking to win future titles generally don’t collapse like that.

Is it too crazy of a hot take to wonder if they even make the playoffs next season?

That may be a step too far, but the trend line for Mahomes over the last couple seasons is not great.

39 years later lol.
I'm sorry, I was 25 years old during that devastating loss in the SB with the Bears. I was born 6/22/1960. I'm confusing it with the 75 Red Sox when I was 15 which was another devastating loss after a magical season. I had too much to drink during the game tonight.

I never was that bothered by that SB loss. First of all, the Pats won 3 road playoff games and excised some demons in Oakland and Miami. Second, the Bears were a much better team - no shame in losing to them. That Pats team went as far as it could.

They get Rice back and Worthy looks comfortable now. I think they'll be a threat, but not a lock to go back

The odds are always against you to be successful every yr. that is what made the pats great.

First quarter we had a lead then they had 17 unanswered in the second. We started a comeback in the third but Howard immediately ended by answering with his KR and that was all she wrote. But no scars at all lol.
I’ll always love the 1996 “Jambalaya!” Super Bowl run. Loved that team. It’s the only AFC champions hat that I wear with pride. But yeah I remember Desmond Howard breaking our hearts. Hason Graham missing the tackle. Just wasn’t our night.

I agree, the season was so fun to watch. I'm proud of their accomplishments that season. Nobody would have beat the Bears. My dad worked for the Telegram and Gazette in Worcester and went to the Miami/Pats AFC championship game that season. I wished I was able to go (He got both of us opening game World series tickets in 75 also which was awesome!) I was 15 and on the T&G bowling team with some of the sports writers.

Yep.

40-22 and the game wasn’t as close as the score makes it seem
Fun fact: before that first TD drive, the Chiefs had fewer points and fewer yards than the Rams did at the same point in SB53.
